Hi
How about an activity based present, rally driving or car racing, go-karting, balloon ride. You can find a company who does these kind of things for anything you can think of that he might like to try.

Why not buy him a title i.e Lord of the Manor.
That's what I got my Dad.

Well my hubby never knows what he wants for a present - he's not a very wanting person - so he's getting a book that I know he will like. I'd never spend that sort of money on someone, to be honest - it's not necessary :)

Have PM'ed you.
Good luck
Sponsor a dog for him, plant a tree with Woodland Trust ( they send you a map reference so you know where your wood is) a zoo animal is another one, a newspaper of the day he was born.... my FIL is the same as your Dad but we got him a tape measure which records the measurements from Argos and he just loves it. Saves him losing the bits of paper with his jottings on. Or get his favourite poem, saying, prayer etc done in calligraphy and framed.

From the dogs dad is getting a tape measure that records messages...when he opens it it will have a message on it saying "don't lose this one" as he has lost all his others :D Just the little prezzie fromt he dogs!
Days out in an activaty are good, mum got a hot air baloon ride for her birthday once, great experiances!
