Good afternoon....I am new here. I do have a question. Is a male Chihuahua qualified to show if he has only one testicle?

Hi there, unfortunately all Kennel Club breed standards include the words,'all male animals should have two testicles fully decended into the scrotum' or words to that effect. So while you can certainly show your boy, he is likely to be penalised for being monorchid.
Is there no chance that the 'lost' testicle might decend yet? It can take a year or so. How old is he?

He's 10 months old. I live in Bermuda and purchased him from someone who imports dogs. She said that he is proven showand that he would be Crufts qualified if his other testicle drops. I thought that both testicles do have to be there even for proven show!......Gina

A dog has to win certain classes to qualify for Crufts.I would expect any award to be with held from a dog who doesn't have to normal testicles and so I would doubt if he is Crufts qualified.

I took him the his vet and he does not think it will descend. He felt him for a good minute or two. Plus he has a strange honking sound. it's not a bark. It's weird. Of course a murphys law would have it he didn't do it when at the vets office. This dog costs me $ 3000.00. I smell a rat. Of course I am attached to this dog. I will not give him up!

I'm sorry but It would seem you have been taken in .I think its great he has found a loving home.
Would also like to add that at 10 months since he would have had to be 6 months before he started showing he would have had a very short period to be 'proven' in the ring.If you give us his pedigree name maybe we can look though some records(if he was imported from the UK) and see if we can find anything

Yep. I was thinking of going to consumer affairs but I don't know. Bermuda is a small place. It just might stir up a whole bunch of problems that I'm not sure I want to be bothered. He is a beatiful. dog. He is a long haired cream. I am just truly broken-hearted. We love him so much. He has a good home. Sad huh; the beeder didn't want him because he won't bring in the $$$
The person who brought him in said that his name was Billy. And said that the owner who was a woman had past away and the kids did not want the responsibility. I don't buy it.

Do you have the registration papers for the dog?

The person who brought him in said that his name was Billy. And said that the owner who was a woman had past away and the kids did not want the responsibility. I don't buy it. She did not give me his registration papers because I am making a payment plan. She said that she would give them to me when My payment plan is finished. I gave her $1400.00 down and I have to pay $320.00 per month for 5 months. His microchip # is 981 000 000 456 563 and his Bermuda lic. # is 0005563. This is all the information I have. Lovingly, Gina

I don't know how your currency converts to ours but I think a show quality chi pup over here would cost about £500...

I've had Chihuahuas for over 20 years - just to say the 'honking' noise is quite common in Chi's and is nothing to worry about. If you put 'Reverse Sneezing' into a search engine you will find lots of information about it. I wish breeders would tell new owners about this condition because it is very scarey, and I've heard of people spending hundreds of pounds at the vets looking for a 'cure'. If he has a fit, put your hand over his nose or take him outside - as soon as they catch their breath they are usually fine
Best wishes with him
Chris
