When a breeder has there dog hip scored, is it possible for them to lie about the result, i know the kennel club publish hip scores, but if it was not good enough can they request it not to be published. I am asking because i was talking to someone recently about there dog and being hip scored and just got the feeling somthing fishy is going on.

No, the Kennel Club will publish all the scores, and it will be printed on the dog's registration document. Some people don't send off plates to be scored at all if they look too bad, but they can't ask the KC to keep the result secret.

JG is right. I have been asked if a dog can go in and have it's eyes tested before the paperwork is filled out just in case it fails. I always refuse! No paperwork, no test!

Trouble is, there are ways of cheating the system as with almost everything. Hopefully one day DNA profiling will close some avenues.

Regards, John
