Oh daisy I'm sooo jealous (how sad am I?) I want the upright version but I can't afford it at the mo, I'll be interested to see how good it is though ;)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 23.11.04 15:49 UTC
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - they have sent the wrong one - it's all white :( :( I think that it's the 'All Floors' - drat :(

What version did you order? The one I want is the DC14 purple/silver upright with the adjustable brush bar.
- By Daisy [gb] Date 23.11.04 16:17 UTC
Yes - I ordered the Animal - purple one. This is white :( :(

I have a Dyson DC07 CLIC. I still have to hoover everyday, sometimes twice
- By ClaireyS Date 01.12.04 10:29 UTC
Can someone buy me a dyson animal for christmas ... pleeeeaaasssseeee ;)
- By hairypooch Date 01.12.04 11:09 UTC
I'm definitely going to buy one in the next week :) so excited........you can tell I need to get out more :D

But I have just got myself totally confused on prices! Doing some research on the web and the prices vary from £235 - £300!!!! Whats that all about? Really don't know where to buy it from now, don't want to do my normal, pay a fortune for it and then see it £50 cheaper the next week.

Have just bought a Dyson Animal for £214 from this site - good service & super fast delivery. Am really pleased with it - so much better than our old Dyson!

Hi,

Sorry to put a d0wner on things but im not that impressed with my animal dyson which we have had over a year now my mums cheap hoover does a better job and borrow hers when mine is waiting to be fixed.
Quite few of my friends tried putting me off but i thought just give ago 3rd time lucky.

With 4 children and 4 Golden Retrievers and a cat its suction is not much better than the average hoover :-(
I have to hoover twice a day and I've had to have the engineers out to it on more than one occasion to replace several parts and advised not too hover quite so often ,well thats a new one.

I wouldn't care but none of us eat in the lounge ,my tile floor in kitchen and conservatory ,utility is brushed first before i attempt to hoover it.
I'm seriously looking into some of the American models,as this is not my 1st Dyson but my 3 rd.

Briony :-)
- By ClaireyS Date 01.12.04 13:55 UTC
Briony have you tried a Sebo ?  my mum works in housekeeping at a hotel and has used the same sebo hoover for nearly 15 years, she was so impressed that she bought one for herself which I borrow quite frequently because my own hoover is pants :(
- By hairypooch Date 01.12.04 14:00 UTC
Hi Briony, I guess its the luck of the draw :) The only reason I am going for yet another Dyson is that I have the original DC01, 8 yrs old now and its still going strong and has never let me down, its just that the poor old thing has lost a bit of suction and is worn out with being used everyday :)

You're making me think about it now, would hate to spend all that money on it and find it's nothing but a pain :)
- By hairypooch Date 01.12.04 13:53 UTC
Is this me being thick?  But I cannot work out the difference between a DC07Animal and a DC14 Animal, except the DC07 is cheaper  Originally I thought that I wanted the DC14 as it was the latest one, but on looking at the blurb on them they both look the same. Ok, someone, pleeease enlighten me and put me out of my misery :D
- By Malakai [gb] Date 01.12.04 15:28 UTC
Isn't the number relative to the number of "cyclones" in the Dyson? So, 14 would have twice as many as the 07.... presumably giving more power :)
- By hairypooch Date 01.12.04 15:43 UTC
Apparently, after lots of head scratching, they both have the same 1400 watt motor, so power is the same, but the difference is in the cubic waste capacity, ie, one holds more dirt in the bin than the other, the tools seem to be slightly different and one has lifetime filters and the other doesn't. Now I've totally confused myself and can't make up my mind which one to get :D
- By Daisy [gb] Date 01.12.04 14:46 UTC
They finally came to collect it on Friday - but I'm still waiting for the correct one :( I've not had problems before when buying electrical stuff on the internet - but this company will go onto my black-list now :( :( Fortunately my old Dyson is still working, so I can wait :(

Ok, ive decided I must get a new hoover mine is only a year old but is totally pants :(  it is called a "mojo" cant remember the make but it is  a 1400 watt and doesnt pick up anything   I have a mix of wood floor and carpet in my house so I want a hoover that I can do both with I also have two cats and a very messy dog so it must be able to pick up pet hair as well as half the garden / crunched up dog biscuits etc....  ive been looking on the currys site for ideas and I really dont want to spend more than £150 (although I bet I end up doing so  ) the black and decker is only £109 and is 1800 watts which is a higher wattage than the dyson animal so what makes the dyson animal better ?  also the Miele animal looks quite good and I might stretch to that.  Does anyone have experience of hoovers from the lower end of the market? or is there a website which I can read reviews on ?

Thanks

Claire :)
- By Jo-Basset [gb] Date 02.12.04 13:06 UTC
Hiya - All I know is that, about 3 months after buying my Dyson - a Which Report was published on hoovers recommending the Miele !!    ..........and it was my 2nd choice in the shop at the time! - but I was weighing up the costs of replacing the bags  - I'd personally say it was a bad choice, involving false economy. Having said that, its the 'cylinder' animal dyson I've got - and having tried friends' upright versions - they do appear better.
It gets to the point where you consider the need to take an Open University course on the blummin' things doesn't it
Good luck
Jo

Tell me about it, ive just been looking at the which report online about hoovers and now im even more confused  it seems they recommend the uprights for animal hair (something to do with rotating brushes) but no one in particular comes out best because the ones that come up good with animal hair are crap with everything else :(

Claire
- By Teri Date 02.12.04 19:18 UTC
Hi Claire,

Dyson uprights are better than their other models (probably same for each manufacturer tho') because of the rotating brushes but unfortunately the bodies of them are very chunky and high off the floor so don't go under low furniture or radiators  :(  I've got the latest Animal Dyson and although it's certainly powerful it is only a little better than my previous Electrolux bagless upright AND I've got to use the tools to reach hairs (lots of :D) under radiators, beds etc. which I didn't have to do with the Electrolux.

To be honest I'm kind of sorry I got it - I think I'd go for the most powerful but slim line alternative upright instead if I was shopping for one now.

Teri  ;)

What a brilliant tip!...something I certainly wouldn't thing about anyway. Nice one Teri

Cheers Jo - just wish this darn *brilliance* had come into my head before I'd actually bought one myself :D   However it is something worth bearing in mind if anyone is still on their personal "quest for the best"

Regards, Teri ;)

Well we have a Kirby :D :D
- By hairypooch Date 03.12.04 11:39 UTC
Now I'm in a complete quandry :D it doesn't take much to confuse me these days

I too, didn't think about the bulky shape of the thing, but I have absolutely no clue as to where to begin with any other make. I could go traipsing round the shops, but the problem with that is I lose patience and then buy the most unsuitable thing in the shop. Oh well, back to the drawing board........I shall cogitate on it in the pub tonight :D
- By ClaireyS Date 03.12.04 12:04 UTC
have a look on the which website (I think it is www.which.co.uk) they give the low down on loads of hoovers and how good they are at picking up pet hair etc - although ive looked and I still dont know
- By Daisy [gb] Date 03.12.04 15:01 UTC
Well I still haven't got my vacuum cleaner :D :D :D Supposed to be delivered tomorrow now.

If it's no good, I'll wish that I had cancelled the order after reading all this :D Someone that I work with has one (and dogs) and reckons her's is brilliant. The bulky bit doesn't worry me as I always have to use the hand-held bit to get to the edges of the carpet anyway - the hair always seems to collect there :(

If you see me tomorrow with smoke from my stack, then you'll know that it hasn't turned up :D

Fingers crossed for you Daisy :) - there's nothing worse than waiting, when you're dying to get your mitts on something is there   Boring stuff always seems to arrive on time though!

Well it's the worst company that I have ever dealt with :( :( When I finally got through, they said - no problems, we can deliver it tomorrow !!! Why didn't they contact me to arrange delivery when they got the first one back ??? And trying to get through on the phone was a nightmare and (despite their web-site saying that emailing was 'the quickest and most efficient way of contacting us' - none of my 3 emails has been answered :D :D

I won't put their name on here, but if anyone is considering buying anything electrical off the internet - please PM me and I'll tell you who they are :D :D

Well I took the plunge yesterday and went out and bought the Animal 14

I went to my local Euronics centre, looked at the difference between the DC07 & 14, the guy was very helpful and pointed out all the differences. And he knocked £50 off into the bargain
I ended up paying £20.00 more for it than you can buy it online, but it was worth it so I could get it straight away :D Still £40 cheaper than the big High St electrical stores.

So far so good with it, the only thing I don't like is the crevice tool, I don't seem to have any crevices that are that shape :D Overall, a vast improvement on the earlier Dysons. :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 05.12.04 13:52 UTC
So what are the diferences between the 7 and 14 models of the Animal????
- By hairypooch Date 05.12.04 17:13 UTC
The 07 is being superceded by the 14, hence the 07 is slightly cheaper. The 14 has a more powerful motor and is smaller in height so it is not so top heavy and weighs slightly less, the bin doesn't hold as much on the 14. filter is in a different place, easier to get to I think. And the 14 comes with a turbo minibrush that goes onto the wand. Very useful for doing the stairs and furniture. The Turbo brush is sold seperately at a cost of £15.00 for other Dysons.

I think thats about it, the more powerful motor was the reason that I bought it over the 07 :)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 05.12.04 17:15 UTC
Well done - I wish that I had done that with mine :) We don't have a Euronics here - hubby looked in Curry's  - they wanted £299 :( :(

Mine's brilliant (so far) - picks up a lot more hair than my old DC03. But I can keep the old one upstairs where the hair isn't a problem :D :D

Thats what I have done with my old Dyson Daisy ;) When I think what I paid for mine, the profit that the big retailers must make :(
- By cathh5 [gb] Date 11.12.04 11:00 UTC
Mine came on Friday (only day someone in) and I have just used it all over the house....its FAB !! My house is laminate flooring apart from staircase, landing and small spare bedroom and I wasnt sure how it would be on laminate (although it does say it will work on hard floor). I was shocked completely how much dog hair it picked up !! I used it forst on my rug in the living room and with 3 adult CKCS and 5 puppies thats alot of dog hair floating about !! It picked up loads !! Even from the laminate flooring too. The only downside was that it wont reach to the top of my staircase (just reaches top but difficult to vaccum top 2 steps) but I am still 1000000% happy with my new Dc14 animal Dyson. Highly recommend
