We are thinking of breeding from one of our bitches, but being a novice we would like to research all we should know first. Can anyone recommend good books on dog breeding, preferably ones written in plain English.

Book Of The Bitch by J.M Evans & Kay White is a dog breeders must, hope this helps :)

Yes!  Get the book by Kay White called "The Book Of The Bitch".  It is excellent.
