Am I right to assume that if a dog bin is provided at the entrance to a field, that it is OK to walk a dog there? Have just come home bristling after being told off for walking the boys around the edge of a local field - not on the playing field, but around the edge. I wouldn't mind, but they are both trained to go on command, and I always make sure they've been before I take them out. They hadn't fouled the pitch, and even if they had I would have picked it up, of course. And they were both on a lead.

What threw me though is the fact this chap even approached me. It's a public field, if he'd seen the dogs fouling, or if they were running loose and out of control I could perhaps understand it, or if there was a sign to say no dogs or something, but there wasn't. There is a dog bin at the edge of the field, so I thought it must be OK to walk there. Was I wrong?

Perhaps they have a problem with people just driving up and using the field as a dog loo and I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time...

I would think that as a dog bin is provided at the entrance of the field then one must presume, as you did, that it is ok for dogs, I would have walked mine there if I had seen it ;)

You should have asked the guy that approached you, where the "no dog" signs were ;) Thats what I have done in the past when I have been shouted at for walking my dogs on leads.

I suppose they must get fed up with dogs fouling the field, as we all know there are some very irresponsible dog owners out there who don't give a t**s where their dogs go.

You probably were in the wrong place at the wrong time, perhaps he'd had a row with someone and took it out on you :D Don't let it bother you.
