Shopping for my male Dobermann's xmas pressies :) and have decided to get him a Boomer Ball but am unsure which size to get. The description says to get one size up from what they can pick up but that doesn't help much. He can pick up a regular sized football in his mouth but I'm unsure of the size of that (it's in the garden deflated :D). I guess it should either be the 8" or the 10". Any ideas?

My Cairn terrier can pick up a football, so the size guideline does not mean much the way they are describing it. (My football is also in the garden looking very sorry for itself!)
With any ball - it's at a minimum of one size up from what the dog could *swallow* - not one size up from what it can pick up. (GSDs have been known to swallow whole tennis balls .. so the bigger the better in my book.)

I got the 8" ball for my (smallish) Springer but I think I'd get the next size up for a Dobermann. They are well worth the money, I've spent a fortune on footballs but this is still going strong after nearly a year. :) Be careful if you kick it or it's whizzing towards you though ... they're flippin' hard and they don't half hurt!

Cool sounds like an excellent pressie for my Boxers :D
They too pop footballs in seconds so this sounds like an excellent compromise
but only to be played with outside I think ;)

Thanks for the help everyone :) I'm gonna get him the 10" one. He's had the medium version of the Indestructible Ball (really similar I think) from when he was teeny and he used to love batting that one around with his paws, until he realised that it's a whole lot more fun to pick it up in his mouth and have me chase him round the garden! Hopefully I'll outsmart him with this one :D

Hi
can you tell me what a boomer ball is? I have never heard of one ?
Thanks
Kayl
My Dobe male can pick up and demolish an 8" ball (the one I bought about 10 years ago took 10 years to demolish, the one I bought a few weeks ago took a few weeks as it is a much softer and thinner material). He is not interested in the 10" at all.
