Hi,
We live in Rochdale and we are looking for a siberian husky puppy,
can anybody advise on breeders in the area with puppies available?
Thank you
Lee and Mandy
You will find that reputable breeders are scattered throughout the UK. You may need to be prepared to travel for a couple of hours before you find the right one.
A good place to start is to contact the main siberian husky club for contacts. Try to avoid jumping on the first sibe advert you find in the local paper as most good breeders should not need to advertise in this way. There is a champ show coming up in Birmingham soon (LKA). This is a prime opportunity to meet many reputable breeders in one place and ask lots of questions about the breed.
hope this helps.

Hello Mandy and Lee,
please research the breed extensively before getting a puppy. When I look at the ad mags and websites, it breaks my heart with all the young husky puppies and dogs (and other breeds) being sold because people didnt know what they were letting themselves in for.
Have you thought about contacting the sibe club who can put you through to rescue?
I know they occasionly have older pups and very young dogs in occassionaly. That way you can get your dream dog knowing you've saved a dog, giving it a loving and permanent home.
If you do buy from a breeder, make sure that if for whatever reason you can no longer keep the dog that they are willing to take it back. Most reputable breeders insist on this. Well Good Luck with your search. Let us know how it goes. If you need any husky hep, just email. Im always happy to give help and give advice. :)

I would just like to reiterate what the others have said. The sibe is a dog which is not to be taken on lightly. They do not like being left alone and can be very destructive. They need lots of exercise but cannot be allowed of lead. They are sensitive to ordinary anaesthetic(SP) and can have digestive problems.
I would also like to add that since they became popular due to the snow dogs film many people have got into breeding these dogs purely for money and the outcome of this is that there are many poor quality sibes out there from unhealth tested parents.
My apologies if you have already done your 'homework' on the breed. Why not register and you can ask any questions you may have.
I would also like to say that since you live in the same town as I do I'm sure you would have heard of the 2 local 'pet supermarkets'...PLEASE don't buy from them ,they are basically puppy farms

Hi
Would just like to add the the Scottish Husky club sometimes keeps a list of breeders with pups.
We have had the breed for over 10 years and we do some filmwork and lots of hug a husky.
Around this time of year a lot of Husky people are doing the Hug a Husky thing for charity.
might be worth looking around to see if there is any around your area
