any advice on weaning pups, what to feed, what age to start, what NOT to give as you can gather a total novice who only wants the best for her babies, had dogs all my life but this is a first!!!  ANY advice really appreciated, mum is doing well in the feeding but they are 3 weeks today and don't want her pulled down, and am I starting too soon, also seeing vet for worming should I take pups for health check or not, (yuck germs etc a huge no no?) large bundles of health, but you never know, would hate to sell a pup and have it brought back due to probs and disappoint/worry new owners even though I've put together a contract for the pups benefit stating speying, neutering, a booklet for advice thanks to a friend of mine, info on dogs in general, and the all important to be returned in event of probs etc, hope i have done ok but please be nice and give nice advice, I have been ill with a constant cold since the pups were born I think due to stress!!!  I am already having worries of where they will go and will only advertise locally so I can still see them.  Am I sad or what!

Weet a bix (how eva ya spell it) with either puppy milk or water is what we used when ours had pups and after a while slowly added puppy food bit by bit

There are probably more dogs with a wheat gluten allergy due to being fed on weetabix as a puppy than for any other reason, please avoid it...
I use Pedigree weaning porridge which is fantastic...whether you go on to other products from that or not is up to you but we have never seen better results than when using that

My last two litters were weaned onto puppy porridge and took to it really quickly.

Once they were tucking into that well,  I then transferred them gradually onto Pedigree Professional Puppy.  At 7 weeks they progressed onto Pedigree Puppy so that their new owners could continue with a food which was easy for them to obtain.

I was very satisfied with the results as the puppies were healthy, well rounded and full of energy.

I start weaning mine at 3 weeks on scraped beef. Get a nice piece of steak and scrape the flat side of it with the blade of a knife to get a nice pulpy gloop. A teaspoon of this per puppy (assuming a medium sized breed) is enough for the first day. Repeat on the second day, and on the third day you can up it to two teaspoons each. A couple of days after that I add a second feed of that as well and gradually increase the amounts. I also gradually introduce them to a good quality complete food, thoroughly soaked and mashed so that is completely soft.

Contact the vet and get some wormer for them and the bitch asap. Good luck!
