has anyone given there bitch this during pregnancy to help with conractions, problem free labour etc, if so in what form, when, and how much etc.

I have. I used the ones for dogs, produced by Denes, which give you the dosage on the bottle. All whelpings have been problem-free (though of course that may be entirely coincidental!).

I give my girls a Holland and Barrett Raspberry leaf capsule once a day from 3 weeks post mating and increase it to 2 a day from 6 weeks post mating, never had any problems yet............she say's with fingers crossed ;-)

You know I just got it today in liquid form and was coming on to see how often people using etc.

i did the same as sharon m above in her post but you should not give it to the bitch untill the 6 week and then 1 week after the birth,both my girls delived their puppies quick and easy,
i use the tablets.

Can I just clarify this do you mean from the 6th week right all the way through to 1 week after??  Just not 100% what you mean as you have said " then" like it is a second time of administering :-))

yes,the 6th week in whelp,not before,then until 1 week after the pup are born,

you only give it to the bitch each time she in whelp,wispa had 3 litter so she had raspberry leaf each time she was in whelp,

and  i buy it from holland and barret in tablet form you got to work out the weigth of the dog to a human,
wispa weight at the time was 32 kg so she just 1 tablet a day,you got to be very carefull that you dont over dose on it has it can abort the puppie to.

If you get Dene's raspberry leaf tablets it tells you on the tub to use them from the first day of the season, but I never start them until the 3rd week after mating.  It also says to double the dose at week 5, but again I wait until week 6 or 7.  I only do this because a midwife friend said that raspberry leaf works by encouraging little practice contractions, and women don't take them until the last few weeks.

This time I am using Hilton Herb Birth Aid mix instead, as a trial.  Someone posted on here that it reduced labour by a vast amount, so I thought I would try this, as my pregnant bitch is really sluggish at producing.  She gets there in the end, but does take her time, and last time she needed an injection to actually start producing.

so my bitch is around 17 kg, so from 6 weeks will one tablet a day be ok?
