Have done alot of reading this week and have decided well and truely that the breed I want is to be a rottweiler!
HOWEVER, after alot of soul searching I have decided it is not the right time for us to get a puppy, for many reasons, my OH has found out he is going to iraq in April, which is when I was thinking about getting a pup, so I'd be on my own with a puppy and children, it wouldn't be fair, I wouldn't be able to take him/her out for a walk at night before bed and I'd have the kids to see to in the morning, he's in the TA but when he finishes his stint in iraq he is hoping to join up to the rerular army so things will be unsettled for a wee while, but once he's officially in and we get our new house (married quarters) I will think about it again.
It is heartbreaking but I will live, I've wanted one so long I'm used to it, another year or so wont hurt, much lol I'm only 25 so plenty years of doggy love in me yet!
So thanks again everyone for all your help and advice, its a shame I wont be joining you just yet, but such is life.
Take care, Viv x
Hi Viv
Well done you for making the sad, but responsible decision, if only more people were like you. And you can join us, there are no rules that say you have to have a dog to join Champdogs. I have learnt loads since I have been here, so by the time you get your Rottie you will be an expert! :p
Hope you stick around,
Claire

Hi Viv, you make a habit of doing the right thing.:) Any breeder will be lucky when you take one of their puppies home, I hope they realise it when the time comes.:)
Anyway, don't be a stranger, you don't have to have a dog to call in here at Champdogs. There will probably be more questions yet, and even if you choose to read only, you'll pick up loads as you go along.
We'd love to hear how things pan out.
Bye for now, Dawn R.

Well done Viv - I had to wait until the ripe old age of 38, and had given up full time work before I finally felt the circumstances were right to get my first dog. As you say, there is plenty of time yet, and it's hard to split yourself in different directions even when the time seems right.
Keep us posted though! It probably won't be that long until you are going ahead :)
