Hi everyone.  I recently purchased a chocolate lab puppy, since i have had her she has had ver wet stools with mucas and blood in it.  I have taken her to the vets, they kept her on a drip for just under a week, when she came back she had solid poo's. Now i have  her back, she was doing great but now she has started again with blood and mucas in her very sloppy poo's.  I am taking her back to the vets on tue, is there something i am doing wrong??? i am feeding her little and often, she is on antibiotics, i am feeding her the stuff the vets gave me, but i ran out of it last night so been feeding her rice and chicken, or boiled fish. she is very happy in her self and full of beans, but i just cant understand why she keeps having poo's that are so horrible.  i do have another dog whom i feed seperatly so as the pup does not eat her food, where am i going wrong. pls help me x

Sorry to hear your pup is ill. Your Vet is the best person to advise you, however it may be worth contacting your girls breeder.

Hope she gets better soon

I have to agree with Liberty. Your vet got her right the first time. Did he give you any idea what was wrong at that time? Was she OK on the food your vet supplied? If so it would point to a food intolerance.

Because of the explosion in Chocolate Labradors so many people are trying to breed them with no real idea of what they are doing. Add to that the down right irresponsible breeding done by puppy farmers cashing in on the craze for Chocolate Labs and we are starting to see the results. Problems, both medical and mental are snowballing. Temperament is suffering, hips and elbow problems are greater than ever before and eyes are not what they were. This is of course possibly unconnected with your troubles but is something to bear in mind.

Regards, John
