Topic Dog Boards / Health / Auto Immune - Advice???
- By xenaqueen [gb] Date 28.11.04 16:23 UTC
Hi,
I am posting on behalf om my sister.  She has a border collie cross bitch, approx 18mnths old.  Approx 6 -8 months ago she devleoped a few small scabs on her head and then these spread to other areas of her bodly mainly the ends of her ears and her legs.  She had many tests carried out by the vets, they beleive it is auto immune.  These scabs/sores went away when she went on holiday for two weeks to the coast (lots of sea swimming) and stayed away for about two months, however they have returned again and are in more places than before with the worst being on her ears and legs again.
The vets only suggestion to help this is Steroids for life.  My sister is quite reluctant to go down this road, until everuy other avenue has been explored.#

Does anybody else have any experience of this sort of problem?
Does anybody know of or can anybody suggest any other alternative remedy that may help?

Many thanks

We have something similar on Jed, my son's flatcoat, who is with us at the moment.   I sprayed his coat with colloidal silver, and it definitely helped, but you seem to need to do it regularly.

Thanks for that.  But what is colloidal silver please?

If you do a Google search for coloidal silver, you can come up with loads of info.   It was used before the advent of antibiotics and antivirals and can still succeed in certain cases.   It has certainly seemed to help in my son's dog who has similar symptoms.

You can try this site

As with any treatment, its always wisest to refer to your vet - at least tell him what you're thinking of trying.   It's also worth reading the articles from people who don't believe in alternative medicines, to be aware of any potential pitfalls.
