I attend a ringcraft class with my beagle, but the trainer in his own words isn't too knowledgeable about showing beagles, could anyone offer me any advice on showing him,he stacks well(with bait)but does tend to be 'nose down' alot when strutting his stuff(i have read the breed standard and it is the purpose he was bred for to a certain extent !!!!(sniffing !!!!)LOL.Is this a problem? He also is quite eager to get slightly ahead of me,although he's catching on quickly and i know given a little more time and patience he'll 'get there'.We're gonna take it slowly and start off with excemption so i guess it's not hugely important at the momement. The main thing is he enjoys it,I'm just eager to learn as much as i can so we can be a little more confident whaen the time comes to get into the ring.Thanks.

Hi Guest....it sounds as if you know what you should be doing just not sure how to acheive it,beagles ,althought stubborn and sometimes hard to train ,are no diferent to any other dog as for pulling on the lead and standing still and even for sniffing as all hounds and many other breeds too will do if left to get away with it,if your trainer cannot help on these pointers i would seriously consider changing to another class as most of those "problems " are basics!
please feel free to contact me privately and i will see if i an find someone near you who might be able to help.
regards
Pauline (weiambea beagles)
