Can anyone put my mind at rest, I have a 15mth old german shepherd pup and until last week his ears where starting to stand up very well then all of a sudden one is having trouble standing up and the other has completely flopped right down, I have taken him to the vet and he said he doesnt know why this has happened and that he doesnt have anything in either of them, a friend told me that once they have started to stand up that they shouldnt flop down again to this extent, so can anyone let me know if this is a common thing that can happen with them or whether it means his ears just arnt going to stand up. Thankyou. email sam@inkbits.co.uk

Do you mean 16 weeks? It is not unusual in prick eared dogs for the ears to go up at very variable ages! If they are not really firm before a puppy gets into teething, then they wil often flop down again, and also sometimes beup in morning and down later in the day.

Chewing will help the teeth and the muscles in the jaw and ear base.

If he is 15 months, then I doubt very mush his ears will ever be fully erect!
