When I took Abby out this morning we met a new Dobie she is 6mth old and the man she was with had only just got her a week ago so I asked why she had been rehomed he said he got her off a lady who about 4mths ago had bought a whole load of dobie bitch puppies and the kennels she was having built for them to live in wasnt ready so she had rehomed them to people on the condition that she have all the bitches back to breed from in a years time once she has sold all the puppies they can have their dogs back until she decides to have more litters.
I couldnt believe it the man seemed really nice but he didnt seem to think there was a problem with what she was doing  I tried to explain that to start with she was nothing better than a puppy farmer  and that Abby hates going out in the rain for a wee let alone live outside he didnt seem to realise that dogs are living creatures and he kept going on about how he got her for free and he didnt have a choice, I lost my temper and told him not to get to attached to her as if this stupid person was going to breed all the bitches around the same time she wouldnt be able to give them the care they deserved and his dog might die having her puppies because the puppy farmer really didnt have any idea of what she was doing.
She isnt doing any health checks at all as 'they are a waste of money'
My friend is going to try and find out who she is and where she lives as I dont think he is going to tell me after my little rant at him this morning. Is there somewher I can report her because I think it was on here I saw that if you have a certain no of breeding bitches that you need a liscence(sp)
Thanks
Mary

The local council is the one that issues breeders licenses, however that normally means that the bitches must reside at the residence in question....seems she has been smart enough to home them out...just let as many people know in the area/breed so maybe she will think twice about carrying out her plans

I just get so angry that she cant cope with seven or eight puppies what is she going to do if say three of the bitches have puppies at the same time.

or can't sell them when she does???
Hopefully when these people get stuck with puppies it will put them off doing it in the future...sadly that doesn't help the poor puppies all we can do is make life difficult and uncomfortable for them (THE "BREEDERS") not the puppies, there are enough unwanted dogs around without types like that..........You Go For it!!!

When the Casey's have their litters let me know I'll have a litter for you :-D

Seriously though it is not so bad if the "breeder" has sold a bitch on 'terms' because they would like a litter or puppy back from it, We've had a litter before on behalf of the owners of one of our bitches because they didn't feel able to cope with a litter but wanted a puppy from their bitch.

yes one litter maybe but to bulk buy puppies with the sole purpose of breeding from them is different.

I am now going to spend as much time as I can trying to put this woman out of business(dont worry nothing illegal) just tell as many people as possible what she is doing try and put off potential buyers by pointing the in the direction of responsible breeders. I will have to say sorry to the man I met today and get as much info out of him as possible then I will know when all the bitches go back to her then tax man and council will get a call.
I am quite lucky as I walk with the local dog lady everyday and between us we will do what we can she feels as strongly about this as I do.
Mary on a mission

This is a much more common practice than you might think. I know of a couple of breeders who do this. I don't think it is fair on the bitches but the owners don't mind at all. I would hate to be parted from my dogs.
It is also a ruse used by puppy farmers to get round the need for a breeders licence. Your best bet is to contact the local council. However if the "breeder" has a licence there is little you can do. Perhaps the tax man might like the "breeders" details?
