I am fed up of ruining my trainers. What do you recommend for walks where there is mud and squlech to combat. Find wellies a bit hard going when you walk a fair distance. Any suggestions that are not mega expensive.

Personally, I find wellies much easier to clean and your trousers don't get as messy either :)

Millets do a pair of wellies for £9.99 and they have been through stream, fields, puddles, and over some very rocky terrain with me and my two dogs and when I get home a run under the outside tap and they are as good as new. Worth every penny in my opinion and will last for a fair more few years too come.

Try hiking type boots that are not expensive and get a good pair of waterproof socks - much more toastie than wellies and as waterproof.

You need boots or wellies with a tread and waterproof ;)

I choose walking boots plus gaiters which are great for keeping you warm and mud free round the lower legs.

Waterproof or goretex walking boots i use mine every day through mud and sea water so far have lasted 4 years.

I also use my goretex hiking boots, they are brilliant and I just hose them down after a walk.

If the mud is not too deep i use muckers, they are furry inside so they keep me nice and warm, but are also waterproof.

Army and navy stores or outdoor world sell walking boots and they have a special rack with some that may have an eyelet missing or something  at a fraction of the price I have bought my  boots from there for years always get good boots they are comfy and you can walk for miles also my son bought me some Barbour lined wellies they are good as well your feet dont sweat no matter how long you wear them and the soles are very thick I have some hunters but they are not as comfy as barbour look on ebay they have some great bargains key in Barbour or whatever and it comes up with good bargains

Definatly wellies in this weather, or a good pair of waterproof walking boots :) My wellies have a removable sheepskin lining (Faux, I might add). I have terrible circulation in my fingers and toes in the winter, so a friend suggested the lined ones.

Oh I'd love some sheepskin lined wellies - got barbours at the moment and my toes go numb in the winter even with big socks on.  Where do you get them from?

I got mine at a my local outdoor clothing store. They weren't that expensive either. I'm sure that you can buy Hunter's lined, but I'm not 100%
