Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Westie - 13 weeks - Blood in Stool
- By Guest [gb] Date 23.11.04 18:07 UTC
I have a westie bitch puppy who is 13 weeks. She was wormed with Panacur which the vet gave me last week for three days, yesterday and today she has had blood in her stools and slight diahorrea. What should I do I am very concerned. She is lively enough and eating her food no problem which is "Burgess Supa Puppy" she seems fine otherwise. She is due her second injection tomorrow.
Thanks
Jackie

What consistency is the blood? (jelly/watery etc)
Jelly like blood comes from the large intestine and antibiotics will clear it, sometimes pro biotic yoghurt helps, it's a sign of an infection.
Normal blood combined with sickness and diahorrea is more likely to be something toxic thats been digested. The best thing you could do is see what the vet says tomorrow. If the pup takes a turn for the worst tonight call the vet straightaway, don't wait.
Hope everything turns out ok :)

Hi there,

You are going to the vet anyway so speak to him. I would probably hold of a few days for the 2nd vaccine. Any doubts tonight though give them a call.

Could she been getting a bit over fed at all this sometimes can cause bowel trouble.
