This is not what I would call a brag, more thanks for him still being here.
We went to Breed Club open Show today.
Along with the youngsters I decided to take my 10 year old Champion, first time out since this time last year.
He won Veteran, then won Best Dog and then was Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex.
I am so so proud of him, apart from the obvious pleasure of winning I never expected this to even be a possibility.
Two years ago older members of the forum will remember that he had a slipped disc, was on cage rest for 6 weeks, with the possibilities of it turning to paralysis at anytime and ending up with maybe spinal surgery.
He recovered and over the last two years had gained back his correct movement. The vet advised that he was retired from both the ring and stud duties.
But this is a dog who sulks when we leave him at home and go off to a show, so I decided to give him his day out, he loves to be in the ring.
He pulled out all the stops today, performed like a youngster, moved like he always used to and did the business. I have to admit to having tears in my eyes. I love this boy he is my soulmate and if he never steps foot in the ring again, the pleasure he got from the clapping will remain with me forever.
Well Done Poacher!!! You showed them there's life in the old dog yet :-D
