Topic Dog Boards / General / Best coats for working?

Can anyone please recommend a good coat for a dog who may get wet and cold but in a situation where the coat may be taken off and put back again on a damp dog (say after rain and she has been towelled dry but is still a bit damp?).

I took  my girl to a trial on Saturday and she has a very thick double coat; never thought she would need a coat, but it's a long day and she did get a bit chilly after waiting in the car and then lying on cold wet grass. I'm thinking a towelling one would be good ....?

Anna is often out all day and our fields are very low laying. On Saturday there was a film of ice on top of the standing water she was sitting in. When we have finished I wipe her as dry as I can and have a towelling coat which I put on her. I find that by the time I get home she is warm and dry. The coat came from www.countrymun.com

Best wishes, John

Trouble is, If I offered her a hip flask I think she would take a sip! :p

When we get back to the car at the end of the day I chuck a dummy across the brook for her to retrieve. It washes the mud off her!

LOL thanks John,

I did have a peek at the Countrymun site as a couple of years ago I bought a very good reflective jacket for Banya (which i call her "space jacket" ). I think I will go with your experience and order her a towelling coat as at least that will help to keep her warm and supple in between times. It's amazing isn't it, how cold and chilly a complete day out can be when you are waiting around a lot! I just felt so sorry for her when after lots of cold wet weather she had to do a 10 minute stay ..... made me feel cold just looking at her!!

She actually has a very bare pink stomach - almost no hair on there at all

I think i will start taking my own hip flask too.... <g>
