Topic Dog Boards / General / STUD BOOK NUMBER?

Does anyone know whether a First prize at Crufts in a qualifying class equals a Stud Book number?

As far as I am aware, the only way of winning a stud-book number in a class at a dog-show is in Limit or Open or if the dog is awarded the CC or Res CC.
In some breeds first, second and third qualify in Limit and Open, in numerically smaller breeds, only the first qualifies.

Crufts is only a championship show, the same as any other, so therefore the qualification will be just the same.

I think that the only exception to top awards is in the obedience ring, where if a dog wins the CC at Crufts, it automatically becomes a champion.

It also depends on which breed. In our breed CC,RCC ot 1st or 2nd in open class at champ show with CC's on offer are the only way to gain a stud book number I think.Crufts is no different than any other champ show.

Hi Lewie, I'm trying to work out your train of thought. A first prize in ANY class at Crufts, qualifies the dog for Crufts the following year. However, as far as the Stud Book Number is conserned, as the others have said, Crufts is the same as any other Champ show. Look on the Kennel Club website, find the section on Stud Bands, then find your breed as it varies. CCs, Res CCs and JWs all get a dog a Stud Book Number regardless of Stud Band.

Hope this helps.
