Topic Dog Boards / Health / Puppy vomiting Bile?? SOS

Hello
Wonder if anyone might have any ideas as to what could be wrong.
My 5mths Staff is teething so has been abit stroppy but the last two nights she is waking up in the night and vomiting Bile.....She has also been rubbing her bum along the floor and has a sore underneath her tail. Im not sure if the sore is caused by the rubbing or if she is rubbing her bum along the floor because of the sore. (I htink it might be a friction burn from wagging her tail)
I dont know if the sickness and bum rubbing could be related.... Upset tummey?? Caused by teething?

She is eating burns and the odd chicken wing. I am going to take her to the vets and get them to take a look but I am quite worried about her.
Other than this she is still nutty as a fruit cake althought she does have the odd moment of sitting and barking at nothing being very miserable?

PLEASE HELP!! WORRIED MUM! :(

My concern would be that she has an impaction of some sort.  However, she is pooing normally and eating well  and not vomiting up her food then the two problems may not be connected.

However, if she is only throwing up bile in the early hours of the morning you can try giving her a biscuit or two before you go to bed at night.  I have one dog that does that and the problem only started when she was about four or five months old.   If her stomach is completely empty, she vomits bile.

Tail scooting can be from worms, allergies or full anal glands.

Let us know how she is doing when you get back from the vets.

Thank you, I've been so worried all day its nice to be able to get advice from experienced people.

I've booked her in for 5.30 so I will mail tomorrow and let you know how she gets on.

In terms of food she is hungry ALL!! the time! but was recently wormed although she did have a bad reaction to the drontol and vomited !??!?!? So maybe that could be it.

Maybe she does have worms; just to add, my girl even now at 3 and a half will bring up bile if she does not have a few small biscuits by about 7.45 am. If i wait much longer, (which is unusual but has happened) she feels icky and will vomit bile. She's fine in herself though. If she has already been sick (rare occurence now) i offer her something very savoury such as a tripe stick or cheese seems to help. But she basically just needs something in her tummy and for some reason after vomiting will not eat biccies.

Sounds complicated but its not really. Hopefully uour pups problem is minor and the vet can sort it. Let us know what he/she says.

I had a mishap last night so couldnt take Rosie to the vet ...I got locked out as I forgot my door keys!! silly mare so we missed our appointment!

I took your advice though and gave Rose some Biccies before bed time around 9pm and she wasnt sick last night, (it usually happens around 2am) and fed her this morning at 7am and she was fine.

I have also been putting some vasaline under her tail where she has the sore and so far she hasnt been rubbing her bottom. It does look like friction burns.

Im going to give her another day to see how she is and if she starts the vomiting and bum shuffling again I'll take her back.

Let's hope your mishap saved you a bill from the vet. :-)
