i have a chocolate labrador bitch who is 8 years old this week ,she has had 3 litters ,first 9 and 2 died, second 11 and 2 died, last 8 all fine,24/28 altogether, she had her first litter at 4 ,then 5 and then 6 3/4.i was going to mate her once more and keep a pup,but i have different info to how old she can have them upto, and be able to register them at the kennel club,as all the other litters are registered .she is in good health.any info appreciated. you can email me at

You are too late.

The KC will not register a litter after a bitch has had her 8th Birthday.  Apart from that she has produced well for you in her breeding lifetime, she has earnt her retirement!!!!

If you think of the rule. 1 dog years - 7 human years. Do you really think a human should have a baby at  the age of 56. Thats older than my mum!!!!!!!!!! I call by baby and old lady at the age of 7 1/2. No breeder and just heard the optimum age, but put in human years, it puts things intop persmactive!!!!!!
Put her on the best bed you can find in front of a warm fire and she will thankyou for it.

I'm sorry, I really don't believe anyone could be so silly! You have already mated her three times and in another post you are asking info on stud dogs? What exactly have you learned during your protracted career as a breeder?

Don't expect any more help from me until you have learned a little about what you are doing. We are not born with knowledge but if we are going to embark on bringing life into the world we should at least first try to find out how to go about it rather that just going out and doing it. That is irresponsible!

why did you breed her then if not in posotion to keep one ? for betterment of the breed? to make money?
personally I would only breed to either keep one myself or to improve the breed many years in rescue has taught me that too many are bred as it is ! and chocolate is the scourge of labradors the worst thing that can happen is a choc bitch gets into the hands of someone with no breed knowledge and looking to make a fast buck !
The amount of chocs in rescue is appalling and they can have very iffy temperaments if not breed properly
Your girl has done enough for you get her spayed and let her have a nice retirement
