We are just coming up to finishing our first year of showing and are chuffed to bits with the way this year has turned out. We have met many lovely people and made many friends along the way. Our bitch took a few BPIB and also mananged to qualify for Crufts aswell which for us was like winning a ticket! Had a lovely day out at the Potteries SBT Ch. show in July and it was excellent to see 300+ dogs and bitches in once place with many varying tpyes and colours. Just wanted to know what everyones personal highlight or general highlight of the year has been?

After all the problems I had with poor old Harvey (neospora) it has been a real tonic showing George. Only been to three shows but won puppy dog every time. Qualified for Crufts so will go and have a real good time win or lose!

Oh ...undeniably the RCC at Crufts in March with my 'ugly duckling' Asa....I have dreamt of competing ar Crufts for many many years but to achieve this at only our second time there was amazing!
Archer
What a good idea! It does no harm to blow your own prumpet every now and again!
I have had the best year in my showing life ever, so I have a couple of highlights.
I always said my oldest FC dog 'Indy' would make a good veteran, despite having a pancreas problem! He won the RCC from veteran at Bath, he also won BIS & BVIS at the northern FC show in may and was Best Dog & BVIS at the same club show in November! He was BVIB & BVIS at United Retriever Club Champ show and has just passed his silver Good Citizen award! (gold award here we come!)
My young dog 'Scout' had a bad experience at a show last year so showing has been minimal for him, but he has still mananged to qualify for Crufts, along with his sisters, who i am also very proud of.
All in all, 2004 has been a good year in the showring.

Well we don't show, so my highlight has to be Tara getting back to her agility classes after we thought that she might lose her leg in the summer :)
Daisy

My highlights are seeing dogs that I have bred being owned by other's winning for them in whatever field they choose to participate in or being much loved family pets enjoyed by all.
AND Mia gaining her 3rd CC too, was the highlight of my June!

My first Highlight was winning RBPIS at South West Hound and then the Pup of the Year Heat at Southern Counties with my new puppy.
Then later that month her Mother won Group Three at 3 Counties Championship show. At her last show of the season tin September at he breed club Open show she was RBIS. She was leading in the Top dog competition until recently, though looks like she will be pipped at the post though as we still have one CC show left, now being joint leader. Now just hoping she produces another nice litter, a repeat of that producing her daughter above :D

i have lots o0f good memorys from this year
they include the day i tood out standard poodle puppy to BPIB and also won the heat pup of thre year and he wasnt supost to be stoping he also won the rdcc at 13 months and recentally shortlisted in the challenge after winnoing 2 classes.also my american cocker spaniel dog got reserve best dog at east of england which i was really pleased with now we are wating on his sister to hopefully have some nice puppies she is now 7 weeks in welp which will end up another highlight of the year yankie puppies!!!!!!
also on another side of me my best grooming competition moment must have came from eurogroom it felt like winning thew standard poodle class to me as i got second behind philpi langdon a verry good trimmer and i beat of other adults i think it was 6 or 7 and i am only 15 and i am being told the best is still to come out of me well i hope so i would love do really and also my
a happy fiona

Well I think over all higlight has been my YKC grooming competiton qulifier, where I qulified, all thanks to fiona for getting me into it...lol It has also been my last year in junior handling and I have had 3 seconds at champshows (not ad seens I have been jinxed all my life at champshows junior handling!!!)
However have had downfalls with both of our bitches haveing a health problem (not serious to them much but can't be bred from) and so no puppies, we really would have liked a bitch from both the mating we had lined up, paper said gourgous dogs, ohwell, back to the drawing bored :)

I've had a quiet 2004 - no shows at all and I've enjoyed the rest - no travelling, no trimming dogs (apart from normal maintenance) and in theory my bank balance should be healthier!!
Well done to all who have been successful though - it's lovely to hear the news through the forum

Our biggest achievement was qualifying for Crufts for the first time at East of England. We only got 3rd in post grad but the look of excitement on OH's face was as if he won the cc!
sarah

in jan i bought over a swedish champ fcr comics catman dooley to stay for 6 months to mate wispa, well he did but we only got 1 pup call blue and she got her first show on 28th nov so i hope she as good as her dad ,
well torsten was he he only went to 10 shows out of them 6 first, with resvers best in show at camberly open show, group 3 at southampton, and on his last day in the uk he went out in style with cc and bos at windsor champ show,
he went to stud with another bitch over here and she had 11,
so loose 6 months were the best at the moment, and best teyha she did well in the show ring too missing out on her jw points bye 2,
so the spot lidght will be on blue of the next 4 week,
plus brie got a 2nd in a working test,at the dogs side
humans side my son left home at 25 yearold so that was a highlight too

I had 3!!! The first was gaining my girls stud book number at Crufts. Then she won the RCC at SKC but by far the best was her litter brother winning the CC with BOB at Driffield then going on to Group 4. This in a breed not particularly popular with group judges and they are from the first litter I bred. :D :D :D

I have had a fantastic 6 months with a pup I kept. She won MP out of 8, which is a massive class for our breed, at our breed Open Show, at her first show at 6 months 2 days. She has gone on to achieve Res Bitch and Puppy Group 3 (the second only in my breed to ever get a group placing) at Bournemouth, she had BB at E of E (NSC), numerous BP's, Res BPIS Mid Herts, Res BPIS, Dukeries and BPIS Kettering! We have shown the breed for 9 years and they are a Rare breed but we have never had success like this. She has just left puppy and we look forward to next year. The nice thing is the support and best wishes from other exhibitors we have had. This year has been a dream!
One very happy and smiling
Diane
Well - i'd have to say showing my home bred Newfie to Best Puppy in Breed and Res Best Puppy in Show at all breed champ show first time out! She was unbeaten in the breed as a puppy, and won her first CC at just 13 months! Wow!
Looking forward to next year....

Mine was taking the cc at every show we attended,. :o which was about 6 because id been under the other judges and won a cc before. -but we did enough with bob's and group placements to stay top for another year, :D

Yawnnnnnnnn....................;) (@ Dizzy!!!!)
We only started showing in July this year and although what we have achieved would be minor to some people i really think we did well. the bitch I started off with was 5 when we went to our first show, having only done a couple of ringcraft classes. We managed in 5 months 3 1st, 2 2nds and 2 3rd,1 Best NSC Gundog and 1 BOB at open(plus 1st, 2nd and 1 RBIS at companions!) and a reserve and third at champ level. Well the champ classes did have 4 and 3 present respectively but it's still nice to say! This particular girl is now 6 and I have retired her from showing. She started not to enjoy the indoor shows, she loved it in summer whn she could sunbathe between classes but now she rather be at home in front of the fire! Last month I decided to take our 2 year(for a laugh!)to a group open show where she got Best of Breed. Bear on mind she'd had 2 ringcraft classes and had never set foot in a ring before and she beat 2 dogs who win well at champ level. I know that was one judge and one day but I was really proud of her. So all in all there is no specific highlight, it's all been a learning curve and stands me in good stead for when we have our puppy, fingers crossed! I can't wait!

I could say winning minor puppy dog at the FCR breed championship show. I had not shown since 1995 when my dog won the graduate class at the breed championship show, so to come back and win at my first championship show, nearly 10 years later, and again it was at the breed championship show, was quite a high. I have only managed to get to two shows since then.
However I think the real highlight of the year was when Rosebud ended her little run of bad luck. First she was biten by a snake, then she got pyometra and was very ill with it. So her recovery was well worth missing this summers shows.

My 1st show with Tia at 6months 2 days took second in her class
Ive had a good year so far, my Flatcoat Madison just missed his Junior Warrant by 3 Points, however I am really pleased with him. He is quite slow maturing, but Im sure he will come together into a really nice dog. He has had some good results this year, 6 BPIB's at Open, and 4 Champ wins of really nice Junior classes. Hopefully he has sired his first litter, fingers crossed the bitch has taken. I cant wait to see what he does next year after a bit more maturing, and hopefully I will have my new puppy, his daughter!

Unfortunately this year has not been a good one. Dilita did win Best bitch and reserve import at Manchester but unfortunately she passed away 2 days before my birthday in May. She was my first SPanish and a wonderful dog. I've hardly been to any shows this year.
Highlight was taking Terri's Gollie in a class at a champ. show and getting placed 4th and being the only SPanish in the final line-up!!
Looking forward to 2005 though. Just clipped my Ch. import so he'll be ready to be shown around March of next year. He already has quite a fan club so I can't wait.

Has got to be my two firsts at Crufts. Still can't quite believe it.
Sandra

diane seen his photo in the our paper under d/d weekend.plus al day spoke to you who knows gollie and wants one of her puppies she got a wheaten terrier,
hope you are well
gollie sends her love and cannot wait for lka
terri

Sorry to dissapoint you Terri but he's not going !! The Spanish Kennel Club are being very slow with the transfer of him into mine and Antonio's names !! Did your friend like him, I remember speaking to her as I told her that I bred Gollie. I don't get Our Dogs!!! He's been clipped now so doesn't look quite the same, he doesn't suit a short coat :d

gollie was clip off 6 weeks a go readly for lka she looks good when she clip she muscal up very well.think it all the chasing the cat up and down the stairs.
why didnt you do the act number form for him, for a while then got his import papers
torsten was shown on the his number but still in carin name with me signing the paper on behalf of carin with the kc ok.
We've had a pretty good year also. (Champers went only to 2 CH shows the year before, but did win both her classes)
Started at Crufts with Champers winning PGB and RES CC. She then won res CC at Welks. Then 2 CC in 1 week, followed by her 3rd CC at the breed club CH show!
A lovely place to make her up as her breeders and supporters were there to watch and there wasnt a dry eye in the house!
And as i didnt breed her and merely own her i dont feel bad bragging as all credit is to the breeders. I just handle her. (When Champers feels like letting me! ;-))

We've not been showing that much this year. What with Tamino being young still, and me retiring Penny this summer. :)
But, the high points was when we got second in Best of Group with Penny, and Best Puppy in Show with Tamino. :D Same day too, I was well chuffed. :) Especially as I handled them.
We are hoping to be more active showing next year with Tamino. Starting from February, with the CAC show in Freibourg. :)

Ok not in the big leagues, but Tia has made me so proud and this weekend must be the highlight of our year. Yesterday, reserve AV Gundog Open, 3rd AV Gundog Graduate, 2nd AV Puppy and 1st Labrador Retriever Open. And today she took 2nd Labrador Retriever Graduate, 1st Labrador Retriever Open, and the Trophy for the Best Black Labrador in the show. And she is only 9months old. Floating on air at the moment.
Kay

My highlight of the year was getting Best Bitch and Res Best bitch at Richmond champ show in the Import Register (Gundogs), where the classes were mixed and my girls had to beat the dogs as well as the other bitches, as well as all the good results they have had all year, Daisy and Abby my Spanish Water Dog stars a joy to live with and to have.
Jenny B

highlight of my year, nothing to do with dogs, my kids actually paid me some money back they borrowed.

We've had a pretty good year all round, but the highlight has to be the success of our imported bitch "Chrystelle".
4 Champ Show CC's all with Best of Breed in the UK, 2 Green Stars and a CACIB in Ireland, and a CAC, CACIB & Best of Breed in Belgium - plus lots of BOB's, Groups and one Best in Show at Open Shows - and she's still only a baby at 20 months!
