Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / will a bullie get along with other dogs
- By kerrie [gb] Date 12.11.04 12:34 UTC
hi im askin this on behalf of my friend who has no access to the internet.
my friend katie really wants an english bull terrier bitch but she has two other dogs both the females now if she gets a bullie will the other dogs accept it and will the bullie get along with them she says she can handle if the bullie is not very good with other dogs it does not know as she will have it muzzled but she wants to know if it will be alright with the two living at home

Why get another dog if you are not sure if it will get along with the dogs you all ready have...Keeping the dog muzzled all the time is not an option either... unless I read that wrong :(

The best bet would be to introduce the dogs in a park or some place other then their home and see how they get on, eventually bringing the dog into their house.... If they don't get along make sure you still have that option of bringing the dog back, no point having an animal if it causes fights or stress' out the animals you all ready have.

lol no i didnt mean have the bullie muzzled all the time at home i meant have it muzzled when she takes it out for a walk in a public place i told her i dont see no reason why the bullie wnt get along with the other dogs it will get used to them but thank you for your suggestion anyway

if shes not sure on a bullie then why dosent she pick a breed she thinks she can handle ? no idea what bullies are like im sure someone else will be along who has owned them :)

Why have it muzzled? There's no regulation (thank heavens). If she's that nervous then it's certainly not the breed for her.

My bully and staffy get on. Is it a puppy she is thinking of getting or an adult?

On the other hand I have a freind who owns 2 bull terrier bitches and they cannot be left alone together...so I guess its down to individual dogs

That happens in all breeds I had a GSD bitch & a X bitch that could never be alone together

she is getting a puppy i dont think it would be a good idea to get an adult

At this moment I have 3 bullys, adult dog and bitch and 5month old bitch, and a staffy bitch. They all live together, but  they are all fed separatley as my bully bitch would eat everyones! I have had no problems. With a new puppy  my dogs usually give them a good sniff all over, but once they have done that they are satisfied....this is done under close supervision I might add. And I do keep an eye on them for  quite a while.

I have a 7 month old dog bully and at present live at my mum's where we have 8 year old dog doberman, when i first got the bully at 8 weeks we lived on our own and are waiting to move to our house so had to move from the flat to my mum's house, i mixed the bully and dob at 8 weeks straight away and he bites the dob all the time ears and quite rough, i recentely found out he can't have protein as gets so aggresive, and is on a veg diet for past 2 weeks and has improved over 50% he plays with the dob more now and accepts him but every now again say 2, 3 times a days will bite his ear and dob cry's he gets over excited and rough, my bully is great with other dogs outside wants to play all the time.

Who told you your dog can't have protein? I cannot believe this is right...he will have growth problems not getting any protien ....please look into this further if you are not feeding any meat at all
Sounds like the old wives tale that raw meat makes a dog vicious!!

Susan just took a look at your site, they are cute :)  Never realized how tiny there eye's were, I love their heads :)
- By Susan [gb] Date 17.11.04 11:05 UTC
They are a head breed.  Their eyes give them that "punishing expression" that is desirable in bullies.

They are a very cute dog :) I love the look of them, Im a sucker when it comes to bullies :)
