Ellie is 10wks tomorrow, 1st vac today so had her weighed, 11.85 kilos. She is not fat, she is heavy boned and 9inches to the withers. She was weaned onto BARF, but I really need to slow down the growth proccess. At vet check she is healthy and vet said not overweight but growth rate is too fast. Both parents and grandparents are within standard height and are also heavy boned. Vet did ask what I was feeding and when I said BARF he was quite happy and did not suggest changing to anything else. If she grows at this rate she will reach adult size by 5 months, and I shudder to think of any joint problems. Can anyone please give me any suggestions.

Increasing the fruit/veg slightly may help slow her down a bit.  She still needs the RMB's so don't cut these out, just reduce them for a week or two.  How fast are her littermates growing - some dogs do reach their adult height by five months or so but others take over a year

Hi Keriok, thanks. Only 3 in the litter and she weighed 21ozs and the 2 boys were 20 and 14 ozs respectively. 14 ozs is the average birth weight. The smallest boy is growing very nicely and the heavier boy overtook her for a week or so at 3weeks, but she is now just over an inch taller and nearly 2 kilos heavier. His growth rate has been steady whereas Ellie seems to have been steady but faster, no spurts..
Tia also reached maximum standard height at 5.5 months but her bone density was lighter, she is now filling out and developing well,and I am pleased with her progress, but she was being fed Autarky morning and raw lunch and supper., only fully started BARF when weaning pups. This is the first litter I have weaned on BARF.

Sorry just to say that Tia and Ellie are not related but I have tended to compare them as my last pups before Tia were 4 years ago, and cannot remember what the growth rate was like.
