My 6mth old pup  humps my leg constantly and starts to get quite aggressive with my leg barking and mouthing it before he jumps on it and starts humping away.
He does this to no one other that me!!!! I trully can't be that irresistable because I dont seem to have that affect on my other half! ;)

This is all the time and its starting to really annoy me as Im constantly pushing him off which makes him VERY UPSET!! and he'll start whining at me!! and really gets the hump ignoring me for hours!

Any idea how I can stop this without giving him the chop???

Please help!!

Try a water pistol...as soon as he starts give him ONE good squirt.
The other option is to remove him from the room as soon as he starts the unwanted behaviour...but you must do it every time!

A lemon jif squeezer is also a good one, you can hide it in your hand comfortably. Just make sure it is well washed out first.  We have around 5 dotted around the house for when unwanted behaviour occurs.

Humping IMO is very very bad manners and rarely has anything to with feeling 'frisky' its about showing pack heirachy.  Your puppy obviously feels of a higher status than you and must  be taught that you are higher in the pack ranking than the pup.  The behaviour must be stopped asap which won't be an easy task because it sounds to me like its become a bad habit.  If it were me I would remove him from the room every single time he attempted to start it, giving a firm 'no' as you do this.  The last thing you want to happen is if you have visitors/children coming to your home and your dog does it to them :-( - how rude and embarrassing!

Good luck :-)

OMG a dog doesn't know about human"manners"nor will it feel superior it is simply being a puppy & doing what young dogs(& bitches)do in the wild & learning about itself

You need to modify your puppy's behaviour to what is acceptable to you as a Human. All removing from the room & saying "no"loudly will teach him nothing Lucytia can you explain what the dog will learn ?

What needs to happen to to stop him & distract him BEFORE he does the humping eg if he jumps up before humping as he starts to jump up give him the sit command & place him in a sit & reward this has to be done each & every time & eventually when he matures he will cease the behaviour

A dog has no sense of embarrassment nor of being rude untlike many children of today

Humping can be the sign of many things, hormonal surges, pecking order or, more usually, just general over excitement.

I would not get overly concerned at it but just redirect him to something else as well as removing the source of his humping.  Generally speaking I find an offhand "pack it in" suffices.

I was doing some woodwork the only time my male tried it on me, as an adult.  The first time I just told him to get off, the second I picked up the pliers and told him in no uncertain terms what I would do with them if he tried it again - he never has.  Whilst the words would have meant nothing to him the tone and my threatening stance obviously did :D

I keep threatening my pup with cutting them off and having them on a key ring either that or tree decorations!!! , think this scares the other half more than my puppy!!!

;)

i got a four year old dog from the pound and we had a nightmare with his humping activities. he would try it with me all the time.everytime i tried to play with him he would do it. he had a one track mind and was no fun. id had enough when i saw him trying to mount our cat (although it was quite funny) we asked the vet about it and said that castration can often help. we had it done to him (poor thing) and he has never done it since. he is a lot more playfull too as he has not got getting laid on his mind all the time. i was amazed with the results
