You're not likely to see any Lundehunds, there were only a few imported, they are no longer being bred in the UK & there is no breed club!
WELL ACTUALLY! if you were to look at the Discover Dogs programme it has ALL the recognised breeds, there in there SO there anwen!

Yes there was a sign up saying that the pugs were ill so they couldn't make it :( I also really wanted to see them but it was not to be :( Did you see those little german spitz? they were so much fun! really playful and so cute! I was so pleased to see a mexican hairless there!! the guy told me he has the only male (or was it female??) in England!!! It felt so strange!! Poor thing was shaking like a leaf!
Oh I think there were a Samoyeds on Saturday when I went! Not sure though but I do remember seeing the sign up and a lot of people being around the pen. There was definetly one in the ring!

Bullboy - I seem to be missing something - where did I say you wouldn't see see Lundehunds? I said you weren't likely to. Rather than being annoyed about the breeds that weren't there, perhaps you could think about the many breeds who were & be grateful to their owners who had given up a weekend for the hard work of dealing with the annoying public. Most of the breeds you mention are numerically small & quite possibly do not have owners who live anywhere near London.

Hi SaraN
What were the mexican hairless's like? There is more than 1 in england, I was thinking of getting a coated one. Were they friendly?

And which breed were you representing, Bullboy? DD is a very long, hard, tiring day, for dogs as well as people. If
you're not prepared to do it yourself, why should anyone else?

Oh...JG ...but didn't you know its a moral obligation you have as a dog owner to sit in a box with your dogs while people prod and poke and ask millions of questions and you smile sweetly...all for free of course!!

DD is a personal bugbear of mine. If folk are going to go there with their breed they should not stand with a face like thunder being miserable and unapproachable all day - if they resent being there then they shouldn't go. That said, visiting folk should be kind to the dogs, ask before touching, and not crowd the dogs or let kids pull them about.

I think its called mutual respect....

Yep. But people on DD shouldn't treat everyone like they are going to be inconsiderate... I was treated very shabbily by some folk on the Spinone stand at Crufts last year and I haven't forgotten it yet! Also, the Dane people had their dogs lying flat out on the floor where people had to walk past - they then can't complain when folk stop and stroke them!

Exactly ....respect from BOTH parties!!
Archer
HONESTLY, you lot are like a old load of bloody grumps!!!!! I wasnt genuinely annoyed that those breeds wernt there, i was dissapointed AND i am fully aware of HOW much work is involved. Ive never represented but know people who have and realize it is a stressful and tiring day, i could see that in some of dogs eyes today!!! STOP taking things so literally and loosen up! =(

And YOU should learn some manners. If you don't like people commenting on your post on a DISCUSSION BOARD then STOP posting.

Yep, and I think in our breed it is the same 3 sets of people who do the London event saince it started. I have done a day at rufts every year too, and much as I love to talk, even I find it very hard work for a whole day, and than god that the dogs love the attention, but do find you need at least 3 or 4 dogs for a whole day, as it is so tiring for them.

First of all in some rare breeds there are not that many in the UK; Secondly out of those few not ALL of them may be suitable for Discover Dogs; Thirdly although we are given meal and refreshment vouchers and £20, this does mean that most exhibitors are out of pocket if they come from a long way away; Fourthly, occassionally either dogs or owners can be ill etc etc etc.
I realise it is annoying for people who have come specifically to look at a breed; having said that one could always see a breeder in their own home etc and probably get a lot more 1:1 attention.
I was in my booth for the entire day on Saturday from 8 - 5, my dog left only for pee breaks and for one wander around. One of the other exhibitors only bothered to turn up for aroun half an hour....................
I enjoy talking to people about my breed but it is exhausting and both I and my dog crashed as soon as we got home and had a bite to eat............ :D
come on guys when i read bully boys post i took it as a joke!
bully boy being sarcy on the net isnt easy!

Hence the smiles available on here ;) They can often soften what would otherwise read as a harsh post :)

Oh god bull boy you do wind me up alot, Don't give us younger ones a bad name. Grow up, learn to respect your elders (hehe!) and they know alot more then you!

I've got to say that I was shocked to see some of the well known breeds not turing up. Our breed had a brilliant turnout, too many actually, but it was great to see them all getting on so well together.
Must admit that it's a knackering weekend, travelled down Friday, myself, friends and new owners spent all day there on the Saturday and part of the day on the Sunday. had to take Monday off work to get myself going again.
Do have a query though. Those of you who attended did any of your dogs have any problems? One of mine had really sore eyes, very red, don't know whether it was due to the air conditioning though. The dogs enjoyed themselves though and so did we.
YOU LOT, honestly, i was mucking about, everything i said wasnt serious, i wasnt angry that tohse breeds wernt there, and im perfectly willing to accept that i dont know everything although im going to throw away the comment that elders know more tha me, not neccessarily i must say hehe!!!!, PLEASE PLEASE dont think i was being serious, lighten up too, thats the problem with internet posting, you all think im being nasty and im not!

try using smilies :) :D ;) :p

You have hit the nail on the head, writing things though the internet can be read differently as it is ment, so maybe before you post read it though from another "angle" and see how it could be read. :) also as has been said many times smilies are there and the do soften up posts, so if you joking laugh :D also if you joking use explination marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if it is a joke then state "jks" or "lol" etc (if really funny try "rotflmfao") and just try to get people to understand your post, otherwise we all get confused

and we don't want that do we
How we have that sorted I'm all tired :O and its only 8:05 am!!!!!

(does this mean I'm old!!! :D :D :D :D )
