If you suspect pyo go to the vets, if they say its not pyo and dog doesn't improve go back to vets. If vet says again he thinks maybe its just a bad phantom...yea you get the picture!
I know that if the bitch starts vomiting then its serious. also if the bitch starts discharging yucky greening stuff get her too the vets.
We had this 2 and half weeks ago with our bitch. £ weeks pior she had been to the vets twice because she was off her food and very quite. first time vet says theres nothing wrong, we mention pyo but no temp and vet can't feel anything but is given antibiotics because we say is not right (we have a good relationship with our vets!). Second trip different vet after she was OK on anti-biotics but after course had finished she because down, off food etc again! This time still nothing to show pyo. Was given some tablets to help hormonal problems. few days later one eveing, discharge, phone vet and book in for a morning operation!
Both me and mum without discussion with eachother said "think it might be pyo" and it was, luckily girl is ok now, was caught and we now have no-more worries about seasons.
mainly saying, if gut thinks pyo then get vet to check it out, and keep returing to the vet if nothing improves!
