I live on the iow, and a few months ago had to go back to my home town for a weekend. I arranged to put my german shepherd girlie in kennels for a couple of days but wasn't too happy about it, I did go to the kennels first and it seemed ok but I still didn't like the thought of leaving her there. The first night I was away I called the kennels early evening to see if my macey was ok. The womans husband answered and seemed to not even know my dog, he just said all the dogs were fine. Next thing I get a call from the woman herself saying why was I ringing (she already said I could, when I left macy) that i should take her husbands word that all dogs were ok, and that she had to get off her horse and phone me because her husband thought I didn't sound very happy... too right I wasn't, but being 100 miles away not alot I could do at that time. Anyway, phoned my lovely neighbour and friend who I had only known for 18 months, and off she went and got my dog, I told her what happened and she said Macey is not staying there, and off she went to get her, she then kept her at her house with her two dogs until I got home earlier than planned next day.
So the next time I had to go back to hometown to a family wedding, I got my uncle who loves macey to come over and dog sit. I left on the friday and by sunday my uncle was taken ill and had to go to hospital, the hospital is 9 miles away and uncle had taken the key with him and was worried about macey as they said he had to stay in. My wonderful neighbour came to the rescue again, she went to see my uncle, made sure he was ok and if he needed anything, she got the key from him and then came back, fed macey, and took her back to her house for the night until I got home. What a fantastic lady she is, and my macey loves her too, I cant thank her enough. Also my lovely unce was ok too. Just wanted to share this with you. Oh and my neighbour/friend said that next time I have to go anywhere, Macey is going to her house.
