Whilst reviewing our website stats I was surprised to find how few websites contain a direct link to the Champdogs Forum home page.
There are many people who already link to the main Champdogs home page or their own individual pages on the main site. And although there are also links on websites to individual topics within the forum, there are very few that actually link direct to the Forum home page.
Links from one site to another are what make the internet work, they enable people to "surf" from one related site to another and broaden their knowledge. They are also used by search engines to indicate relevance and popularity and are used when they calculate their results. In order to keep a forum vibrant and interesting it is important to have a constant stream of new posters with new questions and different opinions.
You can all help in this regard by placing a link to the forum home page on your site, preferably on your home page.
To provide a link simply cut and paste the line below and add it to your site.
<a href="http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/">Champ Dogs Forum</a>
And as a thank you, in a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" style, we will allow anyone who links to the Forum to place a link to their own home page in this thread.
Out of nearly 2000 active members these were the only 3 links I could find:
Bellicose Shar-PeiChloeH's SiteKate's ClanI am sure we can do better than that. Now who is going to be the first :-)
Mark
If you already have a link to the forum and I have just not found it please let us know and we will credit you.
I'm linked but I want a banner. You just did not find me :)
OOps silly me, not to the forum. Just never thought. I shall do it.

Well I have had a link to Champdogs.co.uk for ages Mark ;) If you want me to change it to the actual forum I will do :)

Thank you for the link, however the main site is already popular enough :-)
What we are looking to do is to attract more visitors directly to the forum:
<a href="http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/">Champ Dogs Forum</a> (the spaces are deliberate !)
I have just added on the forum one Mark.
Well I hope I have LOL
Jayne

I have a link to the main site (which of course includes the forum) I don't understand the point in a seperate Link, as often we are telling visitors to search the main site for breeders and breed clubs anyway.

The main Champdogs site
http://www.champdogs.co.uk can be quite cumbersome to navigate. One of the advantages of giving the forum
http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk its own domain, is that it is easy to access and link to directly. As far as visitors and search engines are concerned they are two separate sites.
One of the downsides to splitting the forum the main site, is that in the eyes of the search engines it no longer inherits any of the benefit of the links to the main site. To put this into context the main site probably has well over 1000 links to it, whereas I doubt the forum has many more than 10. On that basis which site would you say was more popular ?
Please don't remove your links to the main site, just add one direct to the forum :-)

A link to CD has always been on my site!
Dawn.

Dawn, your link, like mine, simply leads to the Champdogs site, Mark is asking for links to the forum ;)

Just to clear up any confusion that may have arisen.
There are
two parts to Champdogs:
The
main site which contains the breeder listings, breed guides, show results etc. The address for this main site is:
http://www.champdogs.co.ukThe
forum (which is where you are now). The address for the forum is:
http://www.champdogsforum.co.ukEven though the graphics and colour scheme are similar, they are infact two completely separate sites.
Currently most people link to the main site -
www.champdogs.co.uk. This is valid and we are grateful to the many hundreds of people who have provided a link in this way.
The reason for this thread is that we have hardly any links that go directly to the forum address -
www.champdogsforum.co.uk.
We seeking to raise the profile of the forum, particularly with the various search engines and are asking you to assist us by
adding an additional link to the
Forum from your website. There is no need to remove or amend any of your current links to Champdogs.
For example you could place the following two links on your site:
Champdogs Breeder ListingsChamp Dogs ForumTo do this you would insert the following code on to your page:
<a href="http://www.champdogs.co.uk">Champdogs Breeder Listings</a>
<a href="http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk">Champ Dogs Forum</a>
Thanks
Mark
Hi Mark
Have had a Champdogs link for ages but have now added a forum link as well, both via the "links" page which gets many hits
Kerioak Dobermanns for information on my dogs, lots of health information, standard, colour chart and more
Dobermann Pedigrees pedigree databases containing over 324,000 Dobermanns
Two for two ? :D
I'm going to try to get you a link on my site. The web guy can be a bit slow at times, so not sure when I'll have it up :(

OOPS! sorry pardon, thanks Melodysk, will get that sorted. :D
Dawn.

Okay Mark ...the rest of my site needs updating but still, we now have the forum, the CD site and the breeders listing on ours ;)
So then
Icebay Malamute Site Working links page is the one for the CD links :)
And if it *is* two for two ;) Can I advertise the
Malamute Forum as well?
;)
Oh and did you know that the BREEDERS link is the same as the CD link? I have the breeders section on my favourites and noticed the other day that it has reverted to the general CD page rather than the breeders search site ;)

Hi Mark,
Soon as I can get this darn thing working properly will update my site to include Forum (already have been linked to the main CD pages for about 3 years).
Just a thought (cringe, like I can give I.T. advice :D) But couldn't you make the main CD page easier and/or more attractive to navigate? That way the Forum would be easy to find too.
Regards, Teri ;)

I've got to say i nearly gave up trying to join when i first found champdogs, the main site is a pain to navigate,a link to the forum will make it easier for alot of people and they dont have to go thru the rigmarol of trying to find the links so they can post.

Hi Mark
The link will be posted just as soon as I get the next batch of updates done (should have been this week, but somehow the time has slipped through my fingers!). My site is www.barkery.co.uk a return link would be much appreciated, although as you may not it is still under construction, I am hoping that this round of updates will finish the job!
