Yesterday I lost my westie whilst out walking, after a frantic search of the area I headed back to the car, no sign of her, I got family to ring vets and kennels just in case, for 7 hours I walked those woods calling for her and at my wits end, at 3.15 I went back to the car for the 4th time to find a note to say she had been found at 9.30 am and taken to the police station who contacted the dog warden who came out to the woods but couldn't find me who then took her to kennels where we were reunited, she was fine ,very hapy to see me as i was her, got her home and I couldn't contain my emotions any longer, I'm sure I have aged 10yrs, anyway we are all back together again thankgoodness
I'm so glad that this ended happily for you - can't imagine what kind of state I would have been in if it was me.

What a huge relief! I have to say a mobile phone might have been invaluable in that situation! I never walk the dogs without it, for just such an emergency (also in case I break a leg or something!) Of course this only helps if you get a signal, which some of our favorite haunts don't!
I'm passed myself if mine dissapears for more than 5 minutes, which thankfully hasn't happened much. My dogs have 2 tags on them , home phone number and my mobile which I always carry with me in the park when we're out.

Mum lost her spaniel yesterday while out walking on the beach (there are grassy woody bits between the beach and car park). Several people said they had seen him running around but she just couldn't find him. Then a guy appeared at the edge of the woody bit and said the dog had gone in there. Mum declined to go and look for him in there as she thought the guy was a bit dodgy. The guy kept appearing and pointing into the woods saying he could see/hear the dog and urging my mum to go in and look for him. Thankfully she didn't and the dog appeared 20 mins later far along the beach and they were reunited. Probably innocent situation but I have my doubts.
Thankfully in both these incidents dogs and owners were brought back together :) I'd have been going out of my mind.

An old boy that I know had lost his springer spaniel this morning. It never strays normally and he was very worried about it. The dog is quite elderly and has only lived with them for about two years (previous owner died). I was early this morning, so was able to look with him. Fortunately the dog had gone into someone's garden backing onto the field and probably had a job finding the way out. Relief all round, especially as someone else I know's 3 year old dobermann dropped dead on a walk last week, only a couple of hundred yards up the same field :(

Was there something in the air yesterday as I lost Abby for about 30 mins luckily she was ok but is now walking on a 20m lunge line.

I did have my mobile phone on me but I wanted to keep the line free as my family were in constant touch, thank goodness she was microchipped she doesn't have a tag on but will do it tomorrow, been back out to the woods this afternoon but she was on a flexi lead, its strange but I had her back safely yet trying to get to sleep last night was awful because the day kept going on and on through my mind, I am pretty shattered now, she is downstairs curled up in front of the fire, and I am off agility training with my gsd, that will soon wake me up.
Good to hear that all these lost doggies were reunited with their owners. I've always maintained that a microchip is no substitute for a collar disc. Makes it so much easier for the person who finds the dog to contact the owner quickly.
all done, my four dogs are proud owners of discs, whilst i was out in the same woods this morning looking for my pedometer which i must of lost whilst seaching for my westie, the man who actually found her sitting beside the puddletown dual carriageway saw my car parked and came to see if we had been reunited, it seemed to me that no matter how many times I said thankyou it didn't seem enough, anyway we had a good walk with her on a lead and so happy that she is safe and well.

I was going to ask how many miles you managed to clock up looking for her, but as you lost you pedometer we'll never know!
