i found it truley upsetting to hear about lives being lost due to careless beheviour. i live in Newbury and hearing about it being close to where i live really bought the realilty through. also, having people that i know tragically dying made me think how lucky we are. my heart goes out to all the families of those involved.

Last I heard it was suicide :(

I just think if we made sucide legal (being done somewhere out of the way) others won't die.  Down my road earlier this year there was a suicide driver who survived but killed a mother of 2 and stepmother of another 2 :( it was sad that he survived but wanted to die, she was a normal person loved by so many people and died :(

Suicide is legal.  There are lots of methods that would not involve danger to others or even minimise distress to others but clearly some people are so unhinged they seem to deliberately involve others perhaps as a punishment to the world for their unhappiness.  However, I think we really need to wait for the inquiries to finish before being able to say that suicide was the case here.

Sorry my mistake and I stand corrected.  I did not say it WAS suicide, I said the last I heard it was being said to be suicide.
- By Isabel Date 08.11.04 21:56 UTC
That's exactly was you said! :) but I think you probably meant to say the last I heard didn't you? :)
- By Carla Date 08.11.04 21:55 UTC
I agree... alternatively perhaps the driver couldn't do it himself and didn't have any idea of the consequences of his actions? :(
- By Isabel Date 08.11.04 22:00 UTC
Yes, probably too ill to care if that is what happened :(

My OH is a Train Driver and he says the reason people take their lives on the railway is that there are usually no second attemps at it. If ahuman body is hit fast enough it will explode like a water bag my OH knows cause it's happened to him.

It's a terrible thing that has happened it's one thing to take your own life but to take others with you is a
different matter will they say that he was a murderer or he killed these people accidentally. My prayers and thoughts are with all the familys affected by this tragedy.

A terrible tradgedy, until we know for certain if we ever do one way or another.
