Hi could anyone advice pls
Friend with 8wk pup phoned me on monday, pup D and sickness frid, sat, phoned vet and he said not to worry it is normal for pups, snoop had just had his first jab 2 days prior to being ill, anyway, mon pup no better so vickie phoned me, i told her to get him to the vets asap, and demand to be seen, she did, vet gave her fluid to give snoop every 20mins and a antibiotic jab, was told to go away and come back day after to see how he was,
pup no better, tuesday so off vickie goes again with poor snoop, vet keeps snoop in and puts him on a drip, vickie goes today to see snoop and is told he is very ill and has to stay in again, when vickie asked what is wrong with him they said they dont know they have sent off his urine for tests but wouldnt tell her what tests, they also said he was growling at the staff, come on this is a 8wk old pup in pain.
she is ringing them later on to c how he is, and has to go see him tomorrow.
Also when the vets saw him this am, the cage was full of water poo, sick and there was signs of bloody present.
Any advice welcome pls

CHANGE VETS!!
Good grief! They should be telling her what the tests are for at the very least. The cage should be kept clear and the pup should be kept in isolation in case it has anything that is contagious

doesn't sound good at all to me :( is the pup isolated at the vets?
Edit: I agree with Mel too - change vets.

Me too! What sort of vet is this??????
Thankyou for your quick replies, the pup is in a large room with other sick animals, (wrong i know) vickie has said she is going to change vets as soon as she gets snoop home, me being me said i would go down there tell them to get the drip out and take him to another vet. This pup was healthy running around and crazy at 8wks old and then trip for 1st jab and now this, could it be the jab?? i am thinking in the lines of Parvo i hope i am wrong.

I'm also thinking parvo - I'd start phoning round other vets to see what they suggest to be honest.
chloe, that is what we think, i have told vickie to pull him out, bring him to me and i will take her to our vets, that know what they are doing. I have just spoke to my hubby and he says the same, how can they say this pup is nasty when he is dumped in a cage and left to be ill with no mums tlc, god i am so mad.

I have now heard of 3 puppies with the same symptoms,I dont know if there is a virus going around
but a friend had it with her puppy of 9 months, its not worth the risk though.
carolyn do you mean that it is not worth the risk me taking him just in case i pass infection on to my dogs?? if it is you are right i couldnt put my dogs at risk, i will help my friend as much as i can without actualy going to see the dog just incase. thanks

I meant that its not worth the risk to think it may only be a virus.
You do have to think about your puppy too.

be very careful - parvo can be carried in on shoes I believe?

Yes it can, when we first visited Fagan's litter his breeder disinfected the soles of our shoes before we were allowed in - dont know why they didnt just ask us to remove them :p :p
because you could have somthing on your socks, lol, i use verkon in this house to prevent infection being brought it. I am waiting for vickie to phone on a update.
just had phone call, snoop is coming home he has picked up loads, he is on the (ab) and some jell to put in his mouth, the vet seems to think it was the gastro bug. thankgod for that.

True, and they wouldnt want me taking my socks off

I hope the pup is ok :)

Thats great news and it does appear there is a bug going around that looks like Parvo.
