I have a show 2moro with both girls entered in different classes but same breed. But unfortunaltey the friend who was meant to be helping has had to work so now I'm stuck as to what to do if we are the only HVs there and then have to go for BOB. I don't know anyone else who can help so am now trying to decide who I should take. The older of the 2 is a nice bitch(IMO!) but at her last few shows she has seemed not to enjoy it(think she was v.overwhelmed at Driffied) but the younger has only been to 2 ringcraft classes, is slightly over standard size but has better feet, legs and movement and adores being shown(at ringcraft-never been shown before!), she is more animated and wags her tail. I keep coming back to the ''is it better to show a dog which is more within standard but doesn't enjoy it or one who is a bit big but loves it??????''
Any help appreciated, we have only been doing this since July so still have a lot to learn!

I'm sure you will be able to find someone who will handle one of your dogs, lol I had four cavalier at one show & won all my classes & had four in for the challenge two junior handlers took the older boys & a border terrier handler the youngest & I had the naughty one who will only show for me. LOLOL the border terrier handler got BOB & she took him in & won the group with him & was third in the BIS ring Not bad for his third show ! Now I need her to take him in at Ch shows for me ;) as he keeps his tail now with her LOLOL

Hi Emily, I too am the only handler for my dogs, however I still manage to take three to shows. Only rarely have I needed to find an extra handler on the day due to them all winning. There is always somebody to help at the ringside. Take them both, hope for the best, and if it happens, ask somebody to give you a hand.

No Emma it's North of England HPR, was gonna do Yorkshire gundog but this one is closer to me, wish I'd done Yorkshire now!!!

I'm sure there will be a few vizslas there - we went to the HPR show earlier in the year and there were about 5 entered.  I'm sure if you ask someone nicely they will have no problem holding one of the dogs for you whilst the other is in the ring, or taking one in for you.

I have for the first time had this happy problem a few times this year when both Mym and daughter have won their classes (somehow never happened before when I showed more than one :D )m though not ideal people will always rally around and handle one of them in the challenge for you :D

Just see if you cn see someone from your ringcraft or you have met before and ask them to show.  When I have gone to shows with my friend and had 3 dogs all winning their class and only two of us we have to grab someone...luckily with my own breed 4 of us go to shows...all who are able to handle, if needed....

Well in the end I decided to take only the younger bitch(never been shown before and only 2 ringcraft classes), we won our class AND got BOB!!!! I was so shocked, and pleased at the same time, never expected anything so to actually come away with BOB was amazing. She was quite well behaved, was abit fidgety on the stack but, was told, she moved really nicely and found a lovely male GSP to flirt with all day!!!

Thankyou both very much. Kayla turned 2 in June and has really only started to 'come right' this year-from about 5 months she was what could be described as a nightmare! We tried all sorts to train her but in the end i discovered the clicker, after dissing it in the past, and she is brilliant now!(well most of the time) Now we feel we could take on anything after her! That is probably one of the reasons I didn't show her when she was younger, plus she has always been on the large side but now I have the confidence in her so bring it on!

We went to Yorkshire gundog and Poppy won her class but nothing else - she qualified for Crufts at Midland Counties, not bad considering she nearly lost her leg earlier this year!

Well done, we are going to try and qualify Chloe at GBAS but not holding my breath........!  What happened with the leg if you don't mind me asking?! Is she one of your mum's vizzies? What is her breeding?

My mum did breed Poppy herself out of a Bitcon bitch and Breckengelt dog.  In April she was out on a walk and cut her leg, we don't know what on but the vet said it was something like cheesewire.  She cut through her ligaments, tendons, veins - everything but the bone.  We nearly lost her through the loss of blood and it was touch or go whether she would keep her leg, but after being in plaster for 2 months and hydrotherapy, plus a magnetic collar, she is now totally sound, with the only visible mark being a small scar were the plaster cast rubbed.  Needless to say mym mum was elated to qualify her!

Gosh, what a drama! Chloe also damaged her leg back in May, leaping about in typical vizsla style she jumped onto a log which still had a branch sticking out of it. It when right into her knee, through the skin and followed the contour of the leg a bit further up.  I was away that day and came back to find her looking really sore and sorry for herself on the settee! She had to have a drain and a few stiches but it healed well and know she has a scar, it's on the inside of ther leg though so not too bad. Not as serious as Poppy's injury, glad she is back to full health now!
