Sorry but I am thinking about buying panacur online (cheaper), and was hoping someone could let me know if I am buying the right one for my bitch who is 42 days in whelp
Worming liquid for dogs and cats. Contains 100mg fenbendazole per ml for the treatment of adult cats and dogs infested with roundworm, tapeworm and lungworm and the treatment of weaned and unweaned puppies and kittens infected with roundworms and puppies infected with protozoa. Pregnant bitches: 0.5ml per 2 kg bodyweight daily from day 40 of pregnancy to 2 days post-whelping (approx. 25 days). Puppies and kittens under 6 months: 0.5ml per 1 kg bodyweight daily
for 3 consecutive days.
Price: £10.96 / EUR15.89(Excluding: VAT at 17.5%)
My bitch is 8kg so 2mls a day? Also is this one ok for the rest of my dogs too? And can I use it on the pups when they are here?
Thanks for your help
Hi Lydia,
Is it Panacur 10% liquid you are thinking of? I used it from day 40 and was easy to use.
You have understood it correctly and I worked it out the same (0.5ml per 2kg = 0.25ml per 1kg, so 8 x 0.25 = 2ml). You can worm your other dogs with it as well - in a 1 off different dose though.
I used panacur 1% though when I wormed my pups for the 1st & 2nd time because their body weights were that much smaller and the dosage was more accurate (althoug there was mor liquid for them to swallow). Later when they were older I use the 10% again.
Good luck worming your pups for the 1st time - I used a pippette and for the 1st second they are ok the they go "YUK" and struggle like mad !! Wear some old clothes !!!
I found it cheap from Cainine Chemist via the internet.
Hope all goes well with the new litter.

Some breeders do, with a specific wormer from the vet. Some don't like to give their bitches any chemicals while in whelp. I am one of the latter.
after reading a few comments on worming am not so hazy on this subject now. i did think you had to worm her while in whelp i now know i don't need to, so i will worm her once the pups are here along with the pups. but do i need to use panacur? thanks shirley

Your vet is the best person to advise you on this.
I think you would also find a copy of "The Book of the Bitch" by Evans and White invaluable. It is very informative about the whole breeding process.
:)
thanks again i will be asking my vet for advise as soon as i think my bitch is in whelp shirley
