I have read the discussion about the boxer being overly dominant when outside and was wondering if this could have anything to do with age? Our bitch is 14 months old and in the last month has become exactly the same. She has been very well socialised from a pup. A dog at training growled and lunged at her but didn't actually connect. Since then she has tried to dominate dogs she perceives as being weaker than herself. I must stress that although there is a lot of noise she does not physically attack any other dogs. She met our friends male the other day (whom she has never seen before) and she was instantly submissive towards him. Could it be that she's trying it on with the other dogs. We don't let her off the lead so it only happens when people come over to us or if dogs are off the lead and come up to her - she does not go up to any other dogs. It is also not with every dog.
