I am very sorry to hear your dog was attacked by a staffie but I must make the point that if this dog was another breed would you have put this post on, I think the answer would be NO!!  People at the moment just keeep trying to give staffies a bad name, a staffie made the front pages of the local basingstoke paper because it had bitten a girl in the park, this is not something that should happen to any one but still I am sure that lots of people get bitten by dogs in basingstoke each year but only a staffie makes the front pages. This is very unfair on the staffie as most love people and children and would never hurt anyone, I think it is about time all dog attacks on people and dogs were reported and we could see were the real problem lies and I would bet the staffie is near the bottom of the list.

You are right, the staffi is at the bottam of the list, but i don't think the person who posted the message was doing it just because it was a staffi. She obviously loves her dogs and was very shaken by what happened and the lady did say she had nothing against tha staff.

I know Michelle loves Flynn and that is why she put the post on, regardless of what breed the dog involved was guest.

I think the only reason staffs get more news coverage is that they can do most damage, as they have the locking grip, but knowing this board people will post about any dog that attacks theirs, because they are concerned about what happened and wanted to let everyone know. Certainly not because they are being vindictive.

Hi I my dog (a Stafford) were attacked by a Staffie I'd post on here "Sal attacked by Staffie" same as if she were attacked by a cocker spainel (no disrespect cocker owners ;) ) don't see why Michelle shouldn't post it?

And the owner of the Staff was apologetic.

At the risk of getting screamed at, Staffies can be incredibly aggressive, as is their nature, and to be honest, they are quick to launch an attack  on another dog.  I know there are thousands that are fine and under control, but many are loose and do cause damage, being out of control.  Their jaws are very powerful and yes they do cause a huge amount of damage, thats what they were designed for!

I am sorry but an apology to me would not be good enough, aggressive dogs of ANY breed or crossbreed should NOT be loose in a public place where other dogs are present.  The owner demonstrated a lack of control and therefore should be made responsible for his dogs actions.  If the dog he attacked was a small dog, say Yorkie, or even a large elderly dog, I doubt the outcome would be so favourable to the attacked, Flynn is young and as his owner said has a lot of coat around his neck which protected him.

I think it only fair and responsible for anybody who owns a dog with aggressive tendencies to have their dog muzzled when out and loose only if it is safe to do so.

no i would have put attacked by gsd or xbreed or collie!!!!

its a warning, this staffie attacked with such utter focas that i was in no doubt that he would have killed flynn if we hadnt stopped him

imagine watching your dog & being utterly convinced he was going to be killed!

if it had been ANY other breed in the same situation id have put that on JUST the same, as i think anybody who knows me & has read my many posts on herewill realise

im glad so many staffie people responded with concern for my dog, the owner of the staffie lost concentration on his dog for a couple of secs & that is all it took, if my post can make other staff owners NOT lose concentration or ANY owner of a aggressive breed then that is all GOOD!

i know some lovely staffs, but equally how could i trust one again when seeing an attack like that!
HOWEVER im not blamimg the breed, just a bit of a reminder on the RESPONSIBLITYS of owning a powerful breed!
i think your attitude of saying they  can not be like that is alot worse,
what if it was your staffie that had ripped out my dogs windpipe, what would you say,"oh hes never done that before?"
if you own a powerfull breed PLEASE be responsible!!!!!!
thats all im saying!!! still love all the lovely staff owners on this site!!!!

I have to say that the staff concerned should be muzzled in case it ever happens again.... would it be an idea to mention this at all? It may save another dog as accidents can happen and next time it may do serious damage.

i would have, but at the time was in abit of shock, also 99.9% of the time the owner is really responsible with the dog undercontrol on the lead, when on the lead the staff is totally well behaved ,no barking or lunging or anything & to be honest im sure the owner will have learnt his lesson as i think he was (if its possible) more shocked than me!!!!!
