HI there I have recently purchased an adult pug and was told that her last season was about two months ago, however, while walking her these last couple of days male dogs have been showing her alot of attention.  Licking and sniffing her, infact my other female dog has also been very interested in her (strange to me but true).  My other bitch seems very snappy towards my pug aswell and the pug who is normally so quiet seems to be having a go back, does being in season really alter a dogs personality for a while?  I have not noticed any discharged and her bits are visible from looking at her from behind they look like they are falling out, sorry for the bad description but I have never seen a bitch in season before.  Could she be in season? Is it a noticable change?  Sorry if I appear daft I just need to know.

My kindest regards and thanks in advance.

She could be in season again, or she could be having a phantom pregnancy (perfectly normal) - she may even have an infection. I suggest you get the vet to check her out, and you will find a copy of "The Book of the Bitch" by Evans and White invaluable.

Fantastic book!!!!! It is normal for a dog to behave differant whilst in season. My bitch goes very nervous and sulky, she will go and sit on her own for hours and will not eat very much either, her bahavour in general is very strange when in season.
