My cousins bitch is due in the next couple of days. There are 2 other dogs in the house one is the father will they be ok with the pups or will they try and hurt them? They are German shepherds.

The bitch may well not tolerate the other dogs anywhere near the pups for at least a couple of weeks. She may attack the other dogs, or worse, turn on and kill her own puppies. I would suggest your cousin keeps the bitch and litter in a room well away from the other dogs, where she will not be stressed by their presence.

Mother should have privacy for the first two weeks until pups eyes are open, after that she can have the pups in the dog area of the house, but will still guard her pups, and the other dogs should be very respectful of the Mother and not interfere with the pups at all for another week or more at least.  If she is relaxed and happy she will gradually allow them to inspect, then interact with the pups in time, until at about 6 weeks she is unlikely to be worried about them baby sitting for her, and may sit back watching while someon else puts up with them.

You should never leave the other dogs in the same room as Mum and pups unsupervised though.

My Spaniel had pups 2 weeks ago. For a week before the pups were due and until now she has been completely split from my other 2 Spaniels (1 being the dad) in our spare bedroom. She will be split from them for a further 2 weeks.

The mum will want to be completely on her own with her pups for the first 2-3 weeks

I know one bitch who was happy for other dogs to see her pups after just over a week...I think she had enough of them and wanted someone to "puppy sit" while she had a quite nap!  Yet another bitch wouldn't even let us in while being happy for the 1st few days, she would watch our every move and hide the pups behind her.  We decided to leave her to it just checking every few mins and baby talker always with us for any unusel sound!

Another thing you need to think about it that if dogs that go outside for walks/toilet can bring germs and infections back into the house on their paws which can be passed onto the puppies
