I am the friend with the Border bitch . Thanks for your advice. She has been swollen and licking at herself for over a week but only standing since last night. Although the dog (who is also ours and has not been a stud before) seems keen he mounts and thrusts a few times without penetration he then gets off and they play some more. This has been repeated on and off (so to speak ) all day. Any more advice from Sharon M or anyone would be helpful.

She may not be quite ready yet, can you get her to the vet tomorrow for a premate?  Usually the bitch is ready around  days 11 - 13, but it could be before, as your boy isn't a proven stud yet, his lack of experience doesn't necessarily mean she's ready, he's just eager.......lol.
