I would like to buy a shih tzus who is about one year old and house trained. I am looking for a pet to love not one to show, a shih tzus that perhaps has finished breeding and would now like a home and lots of TLC.  l am slightly disabled and would like the dog to be friendly with a nice temprement and not bouncy. I have looked on the web but can't find any mention of breeders looking to sell an older dog can someone help me.

Most breeders if they rehopme an older dog or bitch as a pet do so by word of mouth usually to someone they or their freinds have sold pups to in the past, as they care that their beloved dogs get a good lifetime retirement home.  Most keep their oldies, but those who feel that the dog would be better off as an only dog, or who simply need to control mumbers when trying to build a breeding line would find advertising their older dogs as a bit mercenary.

Of course breeders do get dogs they have bred back for rehoming and usually let breed rescue know this, so that I would think would be your best bet.  It may be worth contacting the breed club secretaries who may know of a breeder who has anb older dog for rehoming, but be prepared for a thorugh grilling by the breeder, more so than even for a puppy :D

Anyone too eager to home an older dog to just anyone that makes contact I would b wary of.
