I think my SBT may have developed an interdigital cyst, but before rushing off to the Vets yet again, I thought I would seek a little advice. He has been bandaged up and wearing an elizabethan collar recently, due to excessive licking of his front paw. He made such a mess it got infected, which he was given Ceporex to clear it up. The infection now seems to have cleared up and the skin is eventually beginning to heal however he now has what I think may be an interdigital cyst between two of his toes. It is dark in colour much the same as the surounding skin however all the interdigital cysts I can find on the web look very red and agrivated. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all and I am soaking his foot a couple of times a day in salted water in an attempt to get rid of it. Can anyone advise if a cyst is normally red? And if it is a cyst, the best course of action to treat it. I do have a tube of steroid cream from an earlier wound, does anyone know if this is suitable.
Thanks

Hi Julie,
It may well be that you dog has got interdigital cysts but there is another condition that does affect Staffies and other short haired dogs. The short sharp hairs in between their toes can grow inward and cause what sounds something like the problem you described. Good luck, Sav.
