I can honestly say that we have never had any ear problems with any of our pugs - tendency to eye problems, yes, Ears no! Any dog with VERY SMELLY ears needs getting to the Vet asap, and if you dont get a sensible answer and help, then change vets! There are lots of possible causes for smelly ears, and it is impossible to diagnsoe over the internet. It could be a simple thing, like just needing a clena out, it could be mites, it could be an infection, it could be a foreign body etc, etc. However, while floppy eared dogs are often prone to ear trouble, it is not so common and "run of the mill" in erect ear dogs (such as pugs, even though the tips fold over) And a young pup (13 weeks?) as the 2nd poster said with an ear problem needs urgent help - at this age everything should be pink and lovely :)
