Hi Lucy
glad you got some good advice from Lel...
as for the arguements...thats life unfortunately.Everyone can't get on all of the time...even if they're all dog lovers. However don't fear,it will settle down in time and carry on as normal
Archer
Well said Lucy. Get a life Archer!!!!!

 That comment is not exactly helpful now is it?!
Group Hug everyone. :D

And you think that's a polite thing to say, Claudia? If we want to make this board a polite, friendly place, we must
all avoid being rude.
:)

its not really nearly xmas is it?? lordy!

I beg your pardon Claudia....do you live in a different world to the rest of us?
Lucy asked us to stop argueing and you come back with a comment like that...exactly what she DIDN'T want to here.
Archer
by responding to her you are keeping it going though?
The best way to stop arguments is to ignore the other person if you happen to have a different point of view. We cant all agree, and we cant all get on, but we dont need to be rude about it, and it takes 2 to have an argument, so if one person refuses to join in, then the argument fizzles out.
worth giving it a try perhaps? :-)

I think I would respond if someone told me to get a life!!!!!!!!!
Lea :D
maybe thats why it was posted though? to elicit a response?
by ignoring the person, you take away the pleasure they derive from winding you up :-)
 How I do enjoy reading these posts from new members who apparently have little else to do than stir up trouble and antagonise people rather than participate in a debate or offer knowledge-why bother joining up? Why waste everyone's time if you have little constructive to say??
I think what I said WAS constructive, I enjoy debates, but I DONT enjoy arguments which degenerate into slanging matches, so I offered some good advice, dont participate and the argument will tail off anyway.
you may not like my advice, but It was put across in a nice way, and not meant to antagonise anyone. :-)
I may be a new member but I have just as much right to post my opinions as anyone else, and I think arguments are easily avoided if you follow my advice.
:-)

Now whos rising and not taking your own advice, not so easy is it :) I actually dont think that post was aimed at you and no I'm not getting at you I do think you made a valid point Best Wishes Gillian

i think we all need to realise that on some things we are never going to agree!
but just because X as a different opinion to Y that dosent mean either is wrong!
i also enjoy the debates on here & thinking about things from different sides, theres no need for anything to get personall :)
was i the only one to detect "humour" behind the "get a life" comment?
also if you "dish it out,be prepared to have it back"
>was i the only one to detect "humour" behind the "get a life" comment?
I think so! I've only ever come across the phrase used as a form of abuse. :(

ive used it with humour! not on a forum though! :)
i also thought the get a life comment was intended as humour, but since the person who wrote it has not responded we wont know!!
I agree with not tippytoeing around subjects in the fear that you might offend someone, thats no way to live.I dont write or say things that would offend me if it were said to me,does that make sense??? And i especially dont take anything personal thats written on a computer screen, they are after all just words which can be deleted, ignored or debated,it's up to the individual. There are more important things in this world to get worked up about, and words on a computer screen are not one of them!
tobermory, my post was in reference to claudia's post, my apologies if you thought I was referring to you. Ofcourse you have every right to post, we were all new members once, it is the small recent influx of those who seem to have little else to do than antagonise that I have little patience for. :)
no problems :-)
I didnt mind if you were referring to me anyway, not easily offended :-)
(scottish so I have good sense of humour! :-) )
