Being a Burns user, I asked the ingredients of Chappie Complete as one of my puppy owners is feeding it with success. I had no idea that asking the ingredients would spark off this debate !

Lol! It's great that your puppy is thriving on it as well as my dogs do.
:)
- By Wirelincs [gb] Date 26.10.04 16:38 UTC
Just to make it clear, its not my puppy thriving on it, it is a puppy I bred.I have to admit that I am a Burns fan! but I am glad if Chappie seems to suit the pup.I was just interested in its ingredients.

Diane,

This is an ongoing and fairly regular (dare I say monotonous) debate that gets attached to any number of questions on champdogs. Its no reflection on your perfectly reasonable question.

As someone has already said, "if it aint broke, dont fix it".

If certain things in dog food make humans vomit, but dogs like it and od well on it, I dont see the problem really.

Mine get raw green tripe a few times a week, I absolutley detest the smell of it, it makes me feel sick, but they love it, its good for them, and they do well on it. So would I stop feeding it for my own benifit, nope :)

There are certain people here who need to learn to respect other people opinions on feeding. Afterall, its THEIR own dogs that they're feeding. Different people feed their dogs in different ways. There is no particular right nor wrong, as long as your dog is getting the correct vitamins and minerals IMHO :D

>What exactly is the difference between these complete/all in one diets tho

There is no quick answer to that! It's a bit like asking the difference between pasta sauces! Each one is different - some suit, some don't.
:)

I think its safe to say, as many have already (!) that if a food works well for your dog then great!  We all seem to be very caring, knowledgeable owners.  We have all (I hope :)) researched potential foods that our dog's will be fed - Now if that food works, the dog is doing well, looks great, enjoys eating and thriving - then great!  Since leaving the family home a year ago, and having to feed myself I have become more and more aware of what is in foods (human) and make a point of eating how I think I should and avoiding certain foodstuffs/ingredients/artificial colours/flavours etc - This also goes for my dog, I wouldn't feed her sugars, artificial flavours, 'E' numbers to name a few (but thats me) - I have made an informed decision on what my dog should eat.  She enjoys meal times, is healthy and looks great - she appears a very contented dog - Nobody could make me change what I feed right now, so we should remember to respect eachothers way's - share knowledge and experience gained, without getting to personal or forceful :)

Voice of youth? There are many of us in our 40's and 50's here ;) Some even older than that :D Young ideas are not only the perrogative of the young ;)

Buying Buav approved is a great start :D

Lea i know i saw this on a british site also,i will keep on searching,or you'll can type "euthanised dogs cats in pet foods" in your search engine and you should come up with HUNDREDS of facts.

I'm not making this up guys, this is one of the main reasons i am so dead set against some foods, especially the ones who dont state their ingredients, your dogs are most likely to be eating,well........ you know :(

As i've also said before the adage if it aint broke, dont fix it applies to many things, but for obvious reasons it does not apply to nutrition!!

Gonzo The only things you seem to bring to these discussions is sarcasm and a few jibes here and there,do you have ANYTHING educational or factual too add??I spose not, otherwise i would have already seen a glimpse of it!!!

I also feed my dogs green tripe, but you cannot compare this to other things mentioned on this thread, have you even bothered reading through it properly??How big of you to keep feeding tripe even tho it makes you feel sick, your dogs are sooo lucky, I'm really not in the mood to try and educate you AGAIN GONZO as you quite clearly know everything there is to know

Like you said,it aint my dogs who are getting fed garbage, so good luck and good riddance :D

I think it's time to let this thread die out now,i'm not wasting my breath nor time on you anymore,so you can pull your fishing line in now coz the fishie has stopped biting!

But it wasn't your thread ...
- By jo english [gb] Date 29.10.04 15:18 UTC
sorry. any one younger than me 3/4 of the world i think. one other thing "if it aint broke why fix it"  if we all lived by this statment we would still be living in  caves.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 29.10.04 16:15 UTC
But not the broken caves! ;) :D
- By jo english [gb] Date 29.10.04 17:15 UTC
jUST the ones fitted with double glazing ,central heating, wall to wall carpets, inside loos and a plasma screen.god we can improve on things that aint broken ps what is a plasma screen?
- By Gonzo [gb] Date 29.10.04 22:05 UTC
LOL at Ozzies rant there.

Ive not asked you to educate me, and tbh, you have never even told me anything that I have ever found usefull. You can read what you like into my posts, things can be interpreted different ways, dependant on your mood.

Also, there is nobody in this world who knows all there is to know about everything, and I have never preffesed to knowing all. My post was in reponce to you not wanting to feed your dog something that made YOU feel ill. If you cant read my posts properly, why reply to them  Your poor attempt at witt is quite saddening to me :(

No idea what the differences are in tv screens nowadays either Jo  Every week there's a new improvement in technology, like the new vision thingy by Phillips. :D

Cant keep up with them anymore. Must be getting old I think  ;)
- By Stacey [gb] Date 30.10.04 19:04 UTC
Hi Gonzo,

Agree with your response, but I think you should have shown a little more patience. :-) After all, they inmates at the home for the terminally rude and chronically ignorant are not let out often enough to practice their interpersonal skills.

I wasnt going to post on this thread anymore but i couldnt let that ignorant comment slide by,Stacey thanks for giving me a good chuckle :D
You really should take a look in your own backyardS when you mention the word ignorant and lets not forget arrogant!! I'ts not us Aussies who are known for these 2 things is it!!!!!!
I belong to ALOT of sites, this one being the only British one,and i have never had any trouble or conflict on any of them barr this one!
At least this put's my mind at rest. There are so many more things i would just love to say but personal attacks are against the terms of service i believe,so i will leave you with your own thoughts

I really do not want to see this thread get locked,so in future i will ignore your uninformed, immature banter!
- By John [gb] Date 31.10.04 08:16 UTC
If you don't like us why do you post here ozzie? There must be something which keeps you coming back.

Can Dizzy & I have this in writing please????
- By ozzie72 [au] Date 31.10.04 08:51 UTC
John if you havnt noticed i dont ask questions, well i havnt for a long time!
Lily are you still following me around...aww shucks :) Lets not compare posting on this site and e-mails which have nothing to do with this site!

There are a handful of really nice, helpful and likeminded people on here with which i have lots in common,so i guess that's why i "sometimes" pop my head in.

Stacey should have thought long and hard before she wrote her post!
