Hi my name is Stephanie and I have a mini Dobe and his back legs pop but he shows no signs of irritation or lameness.  But then again he is olny 4 months old.  I was just woundering if anyone knew if it was hereditary or if it is the beginning of hip dispasha.  I worries me but I don't really have the money to take him to the vet for x-rays hope you don't think I'm a bad parent.  Thanks again

Hi Stephanie. Why don't you register then you can ask all the questions you want. When you say your dog's legs pop do you mean they click when he moves? As far as I know, there is no such breed as a mini Dobe - do you mean a Min. Pinscher? It doesn't seem likely that it would be HD, but it could be luxating patellas which are more common in smaller breeds. Have you noticed him "hopping" or skipping when he walks? More likely though, is that he just clicks when he moves. I have a dog who's been doing that for 13 yrs & it's never bothered him. If you are still worried I would take him to the vet, you don't have to have an x-ray, a good vet will be able to tell if there is a problem before x-raying, certainly with the patellas.
