Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / pomeranian bitch wanted for breading (locked)
- By Guest [gb] Date 25.10.04 13:28 UTC
We are looking for a pom bitch about a year or two old, we have a beautiful male with a super pedigree.   We have two bitches aswell, they are all so very spoilt with a loving home. We would be very thrilled to add another little one to our home.   Our phone number is 01524831024 or email margaretdriver@hotmail.com

Is that breading as opposed to batter???
- By Dawn B [gb] Date 25.10.04 16:44 UTC
:D :D :D @ Digger!
Dawn.
- By Moonmaiden Date 25.10.04 16:59 UTC
It's what they do to Scampi tails isn't it ;)

no caring person with a bitch of suitable quality to breed is going to sell it to someone they don't know specifically for breeding purposes ...if at all.

you could try ringing round a few breeders but they might be reluctant to sell you a bitch if they think you are just wanting her for breeding. if you are offering a nice home for life though and you are a responsible breeder, you may find a breeder who will help you but you have to approach them in the right way. you have to say you want a pet dog with the possibility of maybe having a litter if she is good enough to breed from etc, if you just go asking for a dog to breed from people will view you with suspicion and rightly so - there are a lot of bad people out there who use dogs to make money, im sure youre not one of them guest so perhaps if you join you can ask more questions and maybe there will be  a breeder on here who can help you :-)
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 25.10.04 20:19 UTC
Great one Lesley Mac!!

You have just given all those people out there ideas of how to go about getting a bitch by not being honest.

Which is why I would never ever part with a bitch without either her having restrictions on her registration, being rehomed without registration papers or best of all having her spayed before rehoming.

To the poster, why not go about things like most people do, buy a puppy run it on and see if it makes the grade.  In my opinion you are just out to get a bitch as a money making proposition.
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 25.10.04 20:31 UTC
i didnt mean it like that! i meant if they just come out and say they want the dog for breeding it will put people off letting them have a dog!
was just trying to offer some genuine advice, instead of the nasty sniping that seems to be offered on here, to visitors, on a VERY regular basis (rolleyes)
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 25.10.04 20:40 UTC
As it should do.

I certainly wouldn't let them have one of mine, but it still doesn't help by you telling them how to go about it fraudulently.
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 25.10.04 20:48 UTC
ok point taken you dont have to be rude about it
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 08:25 UTC
IMO there was nothing rude about my post, just pointed out what a mistake you had made by posting as you did.

As Val has rightly said, as caring breeders we fight tooth and nail to protect our stock from the likes of puppy farmers, backyard breeders etc.
- By Val [gb] Date 25.10.04 20:47 UTC
Your "genuine advice" is just going to encourage people who want to breed for money (rather than to maintain the breed standard) to try and deceive genuine and caring breeders who already have a difficult task selecting the right homes for their puppies.
The majority of contributors to this site have always tried to encourage the best breeding practices, as opposed to puppy farming or back yard breeders, which is why knowledgable and successful breeders give freely of their time and experience to those with a genuine interest in dogs.
I certainly wouldn't let one of my pups knowingly go to such a home!
- By lel [gb] Date 25.10.04 21:32 UTC
Just wanted to add that there is a "Lesley Mac" doing the rounds whom is doing silly posts pretending to be me on other message boards  and leaving silly posts

It isnt me by the way
This may or not be the same person
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 25.10.04 21:37 UTC
Thanks Lel, didn't for one moment think it was you though :-)
- By lel [gb] Date 25.10.04 21:48 UTC
Thanks Lady Dazzle :)
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 07:54 UTC
excuse me!!!
are you saying my post was silly?
I think thats a bit rude and presumtious!!!
no wonder a lot of people stay as "guests" with the attitudes of some on here - I can see why, its very offputting.
perhaps some of you should think about that, or maybe stopping being rude would spoil your "fun" too much :-(
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 08:21 UTC
lol :D
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 26.10.04 08:21 UTC
I think we may be being a bit harsh on Lesley here, her post reads to me like she was genuinely offering advice - not suggesting defrauding anyone. And she has accepted that that's not how everyone has interpreted it. I'm sure those people who just want to breed for money have enough brains to acquire a puppy to breed from without them reading Lesleys' post and thinking EUREKA - now I can go and get a pup
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 08:32 UTC
You may be right Poppynurse, but I felt that by telling Lesley what an error she had made could possibly stop her doing it again, isn't that how we all learn by our mistakes.

IfI was in Pomeranians I would be very concerned that the guest could now possibly be approaching me and telling lies to acquire a bitch from me.

Rehoming or selling an older bitch is already fraught enough with possible problems which is why I rarely do it.
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 26.10.04 08:47 UTC
I take your points Lady Dazzle but isn't that why when selling a pup we interview prospective owners,  interrogate them and say yes or no according to our 'gut instinct' and how they measure up to our criteria. In any negotiation you have to bear in mind the possiblity that the other party has a hidden agenda, I'm sure that people have attempted to deceive to acquire dogs for years - and that's why we're so careful where they go and why we put endorsments on to prevent litters being registered. But I really don't think that all pomeranian breeders now need to be on the lookout for a liar - anymore than they already are!
- By michelled [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:00 UTC
err what is wrong with wanting a bitch to breed from? at least if people are honest then they should get a bitch that meets their requirments rather than a pet quality one!
it sounds as if guest is genuine to me , honestly sometimes people are too quick to judge & tar every person with the same brush!
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:06 UTC
Quite honestly and simply Michelle if a bitch is not good enough quality for me to want to keep her and breed on from her, why should I want her to go for breeding?

The whole ideal of breeding to me is to improve on the breed in question, if a bitch is in my opinion not good enough to do that, then I would not want her bred from.
- By michelled [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:12 UTC
that dosent mean that somebody else may not have 1 quality bitch too many though? or maybe a bitch that didnt get on with another kept bitch?
im not talking about inferior quality, just surplus to requirements through any number of issues,ie it may be a bitch that has been returned to the breeders etc etc
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:17 UTC
True

But IMO if someone who is already breeding Pomeranians, has to advertise on a board like this, then they have little contact with the correct type of person to get a quality bitch from.

Therefore either they have not done their homework and research or they don't really care enough about the breed to do that, and just want something to breed pet quality pups from.

If they already have three pomeranians, then surely the breeders of those dogs, should be able to put them in touch with the right sort of person to obtain a potential breeding bitch from.

If indeed they are genuine, then the Breed Club should be the first port of call.  If they do not know about breed clubs then In my opinion they should not be breeding!!!
- By michelled [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:24 UTC
i dont think the guest is breeding already, i read her post as wanting to start,

yes you are right, about the breeders of her currant dogs maybe able to help! -that could have been a good answer to give earlier maybe??

i dont breed, but if i ever intended to in the future i hope i would be "allowed" to :)
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:27 UTC
I'm sure you would , but I am also sure that you would do all the research necessary to find the very best possible bitch puppy to start breeding from.

It possibly would have been a good answer but at the time I was more concerned about people out there being given the wrong ideas about how to obtain such a bitch.
- By michelled [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:34 UTC
thanks! of course i would :)
i totally disagree with unknowledgable breeding, BUT i do believe eveybody has to start somewhere & learn. this board is great for learning & questions/problems etc,
sometimes i think the barracades go up "abit quick" on here,do you know what i mean?
i i dont think that it really helps,as it does not encourage geniune people (who may have asked a slightly "sensitve" question,) to join,& therefore not to be helped guided any further,& may struggle on on their own!
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:39 UTC
Yes I agree with you on that Michelle.

Unfortunately I think that the more that you read this board and others, the more you realise just how many people out there are using dogs for making money and it does put us on the defensive.  After all the health and welfare of dogs is the reason we come on here in the first place isn't it. Certainly the reason that I post on certain threads is because I care.

It makes me despair at times.

I have to say the original poster made the classic mistake of putting backs up, by the heading of their post. and it then becomes very difficult to see past that first sentence. :-(
- By michelled [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:50 UTC
i do think "breading" was abit off, but it could of being a genuine mistake! even if i know how to speell < :)> a word ,my fingers do not always agree!
id always give people the benifit of the doubt, until im sure of all the facts!
i thought the guests inital post sounded fine, sounded like she loved the breed & would love whatever bitch she had! just how it came across to me,it may have come across differently to others?
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:26 UTC
oh HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!
Another stupid argument on champdogs! (this place is FAMOUS for it!)
why cant you let it go?
some people want to breed, some people dont, some people want to show their dogs, some dont, cant you live ane let live?
as poppynurse said i was just trying to suggest to the guest WHY breeders might turn them down for a dog.
why does everything on here have to degenerate into arguments and tit-for-tat?
have you folks nothing better to do with your time?
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:28 UTC
Actually it is a debate not an argument and some very relevant points are being discussed.

Or maybe I have got it wrong after all these years and we have to all agree with whatever the first poster says!!!!!
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:40 UTC
one of the great skills of good debate is to be able to put your point across without being rude or patronising. I notice the guest has not joined, I wonder why? perhaps they were put off by the holier than thou attitude which seems to prevail in some on here!
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:27 UTC
i agree with you michelled, well said! :-)
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:38 UTC
Well put Michelled! And Lesley mac is right Champdogs does have a reputation on other boards for shooting people down. Having a go at people just puts them off asking doesn't it? Then they go off and do their own thing - surely it's better to gently educate than have a go - we can't change the world overnight! :)
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:43 UTC
Actually I didn't have a go at the poster, only at the person who stupidly advised them to tell lies to get a bitch!!!

I have to say I try to avoid arguments, I haven't the time for them normally.  But as to holier than thou, its seems that is the pot calling the kettle black :-(
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:45 UTC
instead of being rude on the board maybe we should do it all by PM instead as Lesley Mac seems keen to do ;)
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 09:46 UTC
Oh right Lel, we have one of those onboard have we?
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:48 UTC
i was rude to you lel because you were trying to accuse me of being the person who is "supposedly" putting up "silly mesages"
I did NOT advise the guest to LIE, just to word things a bit better, as you say it gets peoples "backs up"
if you cant answer someone s genuine question in a polite and useful way, without PREACHING then maybe you should refrain from answering, as michelle d rightly says, if you shove your opinions down someones throat, whos to say they will listen?
maybe your full on approach isnt working and you need to reconsider how you speak to people!
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:50 UTC
your reply seems a bit strange since I didnt answer anything about this thread?

Dont PM again please - I find your comments very boring
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:51 UTC
you did lel, a couple of replies up the page you tried to acuse me of putting up "silly messages"
DONT YOU PM me either, Ive heard whats being said about you on the staffie board, dont want ANYTHING to do with someone like you!!!!! how you can call yourself an animal lover is beyond me!!!!
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:53 UTC
are these the comments you have put up on the ISF board or the comments you have put on various guest books under my name of course? ;)  very very droll ;)

hows your friends gsd sam and fluffy pups doing by the way? or are they all the same person ?

you forget that admin can read the PMs :)
- By poppynurse [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:57 UTC
I'm confused????
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 09:59 UTC
I have obviously upset our childish friend sometime.....
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 10:03 UTC
I told you before it is NOT me who is putting up the messages, please stop sending me silly messages lel, i am currently ignoring the ones at the top of the screen, and i hope admin DO read them!!
If someone is putting things up about you maybe you should ask yourself WHY? Ive read the stuff and it sounds like youre not a very nice person at all!!
and my name is not sam, and i dont have a GSD so you are barking up the worng tree there. I have no idea who fluffpup is either so maybe you have trodden on someone elses toes, seems to be a habit of yours doesnt it???
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 10:04 UTC
:)
Of course you dont know who I mean.....  :)

you seem to know alot about me having been on the board for such a short time

and you know what other boards I frequent too ? Im impressed....  ;)
very impressed :)
- By Mucca [gb] Date 26.10.04 10:14 UTC
Im finding that this site doesn't offer people warm advice just people thinking they know it all and jumping down other peoples posts to get there bit in.....remember breeders you had to start somewhere didn't you ??? stop judging people and offer advice instead of thinking you are the kings and queens of the dog world....because you are not !!!!!

Just give other members and guests a break will you even if you do have to bite yout tounge at times !

thanks from one breeder to another.
- By Lady Dazzle [in] Date 26.10.04 10:05 UTC
As it was me who upset Lesley Mac in the first place, it seems to me that if she is only PM'ing Lel then it is more personal than anything else.  So I am bowing out at this point.
- By Lesley Mac [gb] Date 26.10.04 10:08 UTC
I am bowing out too, i only sent lel one message to ask her to stop telling LIES about me!!
I dont know the first thing about you lel, other than what i read on the staffie borad, that was enough!!
as i said before i dont want ANYTHING to do with someone like you!
- By lel [gb] Date 26.10.04 10:09 UTC
you keep saying the staffieboard
can you not name it ? Since the only one i am a member of is for showing and there are HUNDREDS of staffie boards :)

By the way all of your PMs have been diverted to admin- can you not count either ?
