Hi,
My bitch is 6 weeks into her pregnancy with approx 8 pups (scanned) she's not carrying much weight at all, so is hiding them well. I am just interested to know when you usually can feel the pups move? Is it from 7 weeks onward?

I have delivered a litter this morning (well not me, the mum did) and I could feel the pups for approx the past 10 days. She was 62 days today when she had her pups
oh, congratulations!!!!! hope mum and pups are doing well :-)
Hi akita lover My akita had pups and I never saw or felt pups once. It was becuase there was only 2 so vet said they were well hidden.
Hi Sharon,
We can feel ours moving now, she's 7 weeks. After she's had a long drink of water, if i sit with my hand on her stomach (FOREVER AND A DAY lol) we can feel them move. Its soooooo sweet
Yes it was like that with our husky. Hope it all goes well for you, we didnt have quite a happy ending with Sheena.
I'm so sorry to hear that. We too had an unhappy ending last time :-( But fingers crossed things are OK this time round :-)... I'll let you know and send pics as soon as they arrive
Would you that would be very nice to see pics. Our Sheana is 7 now we only mated her the once. I said Id never do it again and I didnt. Would you mind telling me what happened last time round thats if its not to personal.
No, not at all... we mated her and got two brilliant matings, had her felt by a vet at 3.5 wks and told she was in whelp but bring her in at 4wks for the scan and he'd count them. So toddles back with bitch in tow and was told he didn't think she was pregnant to go back at 5wks. Went back at 5 wks was told that no they really didn't think she'd caught. At 7 weeks we felt puppies moving and she gained weight etc. Unfortunately we only got the pupppy and was dead. It was horrible, But we tried again later and now we have been scanned at 8 pups due on the 7th, so fingers crossed :-)
All seemed to be going well with Sheena. The day before her due date she started to lose a tar coloured discharge. Someone with experience told me if your dog is happy and in no distress all will be ok. Later that day instinct told me different so I took her the vet.
They performed a section on her right away. The outcome was 2 pups both dead. 1 was tiny half size of the other the vet said it had been dead sometime poisoning the other pup. It was so sad they looked as if they were alive. We fetched the pups home to bury in the garden, all the way home I rubbed the pups just hoping I could bring life back into them.
That was 2 years ago now and its still painfull to think of.
I made the dessision then never to breed her again.
In a few days now you'l have pups I do hope all is well for you. Let us know how things go.
Ahhhh how sad :-( I was so upset for a while after out dead baby but i realised that sometimes these things happen and we just have to get on with it and so long as the bitch is OK thats all that matters :-)
