Topic Dog Boards / Health / Yeast Allergy or what?

I have a problem with my young TT bitch. She started being very itchy and scratching so I started to give her double doses of Vetzyme thinking this would help as it has always worked on her mum if she got a bit itchy. Now I've noticed today the youngster has got swollen lips on one side of her mouth and I was told this could be a reaction to excess yeast, naturally I have taken her off Vetzyme completely to eliminate the problem, if it is that. Does anyone have any idea if it could be this or could it be something else. She's very fit and healthy in every other respect. She's prone to a sensitive stomach so I have to be very careful what she eats. She is given Nutro or Burns and is fine on both of those. I was trying a bit of Affinity Advance puppy in with her Nutro to try and give her a bit of a change, and to see if she could tolerate it,  but when I read the protein content it was 30%, so I dropped that, thinking, too much protein, causing overheating, causing the itching. She did tolerate it, in the digestive sense and she didn't have a lot of it but I'm starting to clutch at straws now, trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I also give 1 garlic capsule, 1 EPO capsule and 1 CLO capsule in with her food, daily
Does anyone know what I can maybe put on her lip to soothe it, that won't harm if it gets in her mouth? I thought of aloe vera gel but would that be ok?  I have swabbed it with salt water solution but that seemed to sting her a bit. And, she is still scratching her chin/mouth area
Any help/advice would be very much appriciated as I'm about at my wits end with it, and it can't be nice for her.

I don't know what is in vetzyme, could you tell me?

I don't think you should be giving CLO daily if she is being fed commercial food, your dog could OD on Vitamin A. You would be much better off giving her Fish Body Oil rather than Cod Liver Oil as this has the anti inflammatory effect, contains Omega 3s without Vitamins A and D which are probably already in her diet.  I would suggest 1000mg per day plus 200 iu of natural Vitamin E per day.

Aloe Vera is generally fine, it can be ingested without problems by most dogs, or you could bathe with Colloidal Silver.

Thanks Tohme for your advise, its very much appreciated. I have actually bought some fish body oil capsules today, as I had also read they would act as an anti-inflammatory. Iv'e been bathing it in garlic juice and I actually have some collodial silver in and almost used it. I've even put some baby teething gel on to try and soothe them She hasn't been inproving at all as the day's worn on and now she appears to be off it as well, even though she was happy to go for a walk and has been eating, you can just tell can't you when they aren't feeling right, so I am taking her to see the vet in the morning. Hopefully he'll get to the bottom of it.
I'll keep you posted as to the outcome.
Thanks again
Anne

Quick update. Safi's seen the vet and he also thinks its a food allergy of some sort, so he's put her on antihistimines for a week and we are trying an elimination diet. so she's having nothing at all but Wafcol salmon & potato as she can tolerate this as I've tried, but her body isn't as used to it as Nutro or Burns. she's not allowed to have anything else. so we'll see how she goes on. Oh and I have to keep washing her mouth and lips with saline or Hibiscrub so bacteria doesn't get chance to kick in.
Thanks again for the help
